I hate thieves, stole in broad daylight
My neighbor across the street is moving to Florida in October. Today they had a yard sale. Around 4:00Pm my neighbors went out in their car. Two minutes later, a small white Ford pulled up and opened the truck. A young guy got out and loaded up a few things from the driveway. Showing up so soon, I thought it was someone who saw the yard sale on a walk and paid for some items and came back to collect them. Nope, texted my neighbor and he said it was a theft. Maybe I should have realized at the moment what was happening, but we really do live in a neighbor where that stuff doesn't happen. Well, looks like it does happen.
At the same time, who leaves everything out for the taking and leaves. My neighbor still hasn't returned home so I am guessing he doesn't care that much. He is a heavy drinker so he won't leave the bar yet.

I leave my yard sale left overs out front all the time - come take my junk away.

So, let me get this straight. Your neighbor left a bunch of his stuff in the driveway and got in the car and went somewhere? Yeah, we all hate thieves, and obviously he didn't care, but what did he expect? You seem to care about his stuff more than he does. Big Grin

I don't care about his stuff so much, it's the thief that bothers me.
If he cared about his stuff he would have moved it back inside the garage or covered it.

Perhaps his plan to get rid of stuff that didn’t sell was to leave it out unattended and hope that it would disappear so he didn’t have to haul it back inside. He might consider the result a success!

Our first garage sale we had at a new house we just moved into.

Sold some of the stuff.

The next day, we found that someone over the night took potted plants and wicker furniture in our front porch.

That was the last garage sale we had.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Left an old lawn mower by the curb that said “free”…

Nobody took it..

Changed the sign to $150 and it was gone next morning.

Many years ago when I lived in Brooklyn, the sanitation engineers (garbage truck drivers) were on strike.

A neighbor put his kitchen trash in a department store box, stuck a gift ribbon bow on it, and left it in his unlocked car.

It disappeared quickly.

I once tore down a wooden deck. Hauled all of the debris to the street for the trash truck . That evening there was a knock on the door . A guy asked me if it was ok to pick through the wood and see if there was anything suitable for a deer stand ? He promised not to make a mess . I told him to have at it .
Over the years I have gotten rid of all sorts of things by just sitting them out at the road .

You should have a vacant lot in the country. I could write a book on some of the incidents.

I even caught two guys that had poached a deer. They wouldn't show an ID when asked so I had to let them go. I didn't know if they were armed and they were in a 4-wheel drive that set high off the ground. I could have pulled a gun on them risking a shoot out or be charged with banishing a weapon. Victims have no rights any more.

Downside/upside to living in a gated neighborhood.
No drive-by collectors outside of house cleaners & lawn service.

Put my old grill on the curb for trash pickup, 3 or 4 law guys looked at it & decided it was too worn out to take.

Same with an old Honda lawnmower, lawn service nabbed that one before the trash service. It ran but sounded horrible, think the rings were bad & little-to-no compression.

Years ago (1983 to be specific), I was living in downtown Reading PA. I just got back from Basic, and was packing up to head to AIT at Ft. Sam in San Antonio. In the process of arranging things in my Ford Pinto, I left an umbrella-style baby stroller on the roof while I went in for another load. By the time I got back out with the load, the stroller was gone.

So I feel your pain. Not the only time I had things stolen, but it was one of the more brazen ones.

We were packing up the truck to go home after a week in gatlinburg, TN. Went back in the lodge for another load and a bear hopped up on the open bed and stole a big container of Chex mix. Little fucker sat at the edge of the drive eating it in front of us. The difference is, he was an animal and doesn’t know any better.

SHOCK VIDEO: Vandals Commit Brazen Robbery in Broad Daylight at Ulta Beauty Store in Chicago
By Jim Hoft
Published September 28, 2021 at 7:15am

An Ulta Beauty store in northern Illinois was robbed by vandals in broad daylight in Chicago on Monday.

The entire robbery was caught on video. The black vandals broke into the perfume cases and loaded their bags with bottles of cologne. Then they ran from the store.

This all took place in broad daylight.

You can hear the siren going off as others continue to mill around the store as the robbery is taking place.

The robbers then leave the store, bags in hand.
They are not worried about the police and not ashamed at all for committing the crime in broad daylight with dozens of witnesses.
