tatortoddUSPS 14 Days to Deliver 42 Miles
Primary Arms is a 41.7 mile drive from my house. 15 days ago, they had a smoking deal on B5 Systems Bravo stocks and I "needed" to replace 3 pistol braces with real stocks. The deal was too good to wait until I had a day off and could get there in person so I ordered it shipped to my house.
It arrived today, and the box was so beat to hell that I didn't need a knife to open it. Fortunately, the B5 stocks were all in there and in perfect shape. It took USPS so long that I thought I was going to have file a claim. Check out how many times they handled it:
Oct 12 - Primary Arms created label and package was accepted at their local post office. In other words, I ordered on a Sunday night and PA did their part for a speedy delivery by having it to the post office on the next day. The rest is on USPS.
Oct 13 - Arrives at North Houston Distribution Center which is 12 miles from my house as crow flies
Oct 14 - Arrives at my local post office which is 4 miles from my house as crow flies
Oct 14 - Out for Delivery
Oct 14 - Arrives at my local post office
Oct 16 - Arrives at North Houston Distribution Center
Oct 17 - Arrives at my local post office
Oct 20 - Arrives at North Houston Distribution Center
Oct 21 - Arrives at my local post office
Oct 22 - Out for Delivery
Oct 22 - Arrives at my local post office
Oct 24 - Arrives at North Houston Distribution Center
Oct 25 - Arrives at South Houston Distribution Center. At this point, I'm thinking they're sending back to Primary Arms as they're in South Houston.
Oct 25 - Arrives at North Houston Distribution Center
Oct 26 - Arrives at my local post office
Oct 26 - Out for Delivery
Oct 26 - Delivered to my Front Door
I knew the entire time the label was good as they scanned it multiple times, and sure enough when it arrived my delivery address was undamaged and so was the bar code. I thought perhaps I had an anti-2A mailman, but the box is discreet and the return address is just "PA Fulfillment" so nothing screams gun parts.
[sarcasm]I can't for the life of me figure out why the USPS loses 9 or 10 billion dollars per year[/sarcasm]

konata88Perhaps the $9B is in the mail somewhere.
It used to take 1-2 weeks for mail between US and Japan. Now it takes north of 5 weeks. Not sure why. But, Prime Japan deliveries arrive in about a week. Including customs. Go figure.

Expert308I've had a package from Primary Arms go the long way around, except I think mine was FedEx. Texas to Salt Lake City to Boise, where it should have been put on a local truck for delivery. Instead they sent it on to Seattle. Then back to Salt Lake City again, and finally back to Boise. The 2nd time around they managed to get it delivered.

GustoferI've had Fedex do that to me frequently. Things will head up I-15 to Butte. Instead of heading west, it goes east all the way to Billings and then back west, adding 500 miles and a day or two to the delivery. Aggravating.

V-TailDoes FedEx charge extra, for the additional miles?

Expert308I'm sure it's factored into their rates!
