Yeah, you could park several cars on your grass. And put ‘em up on blocks too.

Serious about crackers.

And if it's your property, you should be allowed to do that. I don't see how it's anybody else's business provided it's on your own lawn. People spend way too much time worrying about what other people do with their own stuff on their own property. As long as it's not on my lawn, go ahead and do what you want.

There was NOTHING about parking with wheels on grass in the documents that I signed; I still have copies of those. At a later time, not sure exactly when, the HOA Karens decided to add a bunch of rules.

In case I was not clear about this, the vehicle was not parked in the middle of the yard, redneck style. It was maybe 95% in the street, the passenger side tires "encroached" on the front lawn by less than a foot. Maybe six or eight inches, if that much.

Absolutely NOT CORRECT! People own their houses, HOA sends nastygrams if the Karens think the house should be repainted. People own their driveways, the Karens don't hesitate to send nastygrams ordering people to pressure wash their driveways, or remove a few weeds that might poke up through cracks in the concrete.

These Karens live to send nastygrams. It's the only thing that makes their pitiful lives worth living.

Ask them to cite which specific rule that you are being accused of violating .

Wonder if I could use that to have the teens’ cars towed when the neighbors kids have a party and they park with some or all of a tire on my grass?

There is a rule in the current HOA documentation that references this alleged violation, parking on grass. The rule is there, when I look at the website.

However, the claims in previous posts, that I agreed to this when I bought the house, are not correct. I have the original rules, and there was nothing about this at the time we bought. The HOA Karens added the rule somewhere along the way, after I signed all the agreements re HOA, property rules, etc.

Similarly, some people put their trash cans alongside the house. Nope, not allowed. HOA Karens send nastygrams about this. Definitely nothing in the orginal HOA rules, it was added at an unknown later date.

I live in a community that has an HOA. There are covenants and bylaws, neither of which can be changed/added/removed without a majority vote of the homeowners. I would check your original copies for a similar rule.
The ability for Karen's to unilaterally add rules is concerning. I know the Karen's in my neighborhood would LOVE to add rules, and they try, but the vast majority of homeowners wouldn't stand for this nonsense.

Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

Fuck fuck fuck fuck HOAs. The losers who run them were the ones who found being on the PTA at their kids school too much to handle. Not that I'll ever afford a house at this point but thank goodness HOAs aren't terribly common around here.

V Tail, the Florida legislature actually addressed some of this in the last few years. The whole garbage can thing got to the point where you had an extremely limited window to put it out and get it in regardless of the fact that you have no guarantee of when the garbage men arrive or that you might work for a living. They actually made it a law that garbage cans now have a fairly generous window before they can be fined/warned etc. Maybe there is hope for us HOA people. Lol

We need a Karen Control law.

Not really, we don't need no more laws.

I couldn't live with an HOA.
My wife's sister lives with one in Georgia; they even dictate what color your curtains can be as seen from the road.
Thankfully, they're limited mostly to Condos around here.

VT state of FL passed new laws regarding HOA's in Florida, no HOA can say anything about parking to a resident, you can park anywhere you want on your property that doesn't violate city/county rules/laws.

HOWEVER, if you live in a city where parking in grass/lawns is prohibited then they can contact the city and request that Code Enforcement give you a visit.

In Florida, HOAs generally cannot prevent homeowners from parking on their own property, including lawns, unless it violates local ordinances or is deemed a public safety hazard.

New legislation in Florida limits the ability of HOAs to enforce parking restrictions, particularly on private property like driveways and lawns.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

New Florida Law:

As of July 1, 2024, Florida law restricts HOAs from imposing certain parking restrictions on private property within their jurisdiction.

Restrictions on Parking:

Specifically, HOAs are prohibited from preventing homeowners or their guests from parking vehicles, including pickup trucks, in driveways or other designated parking areas.

Limited HOA Power:

HOAs still have some authority to regulate parking on common areas or public streets, but their ability to dictate parking on private property has been significantly reduced.

Enforcement of Rules:

HOAs can still enforce parking rules that are consistent with Florida law and are clearly outlined in their governing documents (Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions).

Public Safety:

While HOAs can't generally restrict parking on private property, they can still enforce rules that prevent vehicles from being parked in a way that creates a public safety hazard.

But for a tire in the grass, I'd have told them to piss off..

I love it! Can you give me a pointer to the text of that legislation? I'd like to quote relevant portions in a response to the HOA's management company's nastygram. With a footnote, suggesting that she (the property manager) sit on a rusty cactus.

Seeing that you've already addressed the rule thing, I'd also be in the mood to ask for pics of the alleged violation. "Pics or it didn't happen," right? Razz

I wouldn't do that but I'd rather have the option since I'm paying the mortgage and not the HOA.

So I'm curious what will happen if you ignore the nasty grams, does the HOA have the capability to fine you?
