Well, it would be one of the advantages of a cashless society, no more panhandling for cash, unless you'd be interested in sending them a donation by Zelle someone will make a bazillion bucks off a new Bum-Pay app....

I can deal with Pan Handlers, a freedom-less government controlling all money ~ not so much. Frown

Was attending a trade show at the Las Vegas Convention Center and staying in the hotel next door. After a long evening in the lobby bar, I rode the elevator up to my floor and was attempting to navigate the hallway (rather unsteadily) to my room. Guy stops me and regales me with the tale of how he was on fire at the craps table when his buddies said it was time to head to the airport for the flight home. Of course, he doesn’t leave the table until his luck turns and he loses everything. Then he realizes his phone and wallet are missing and his buds went to the airport without him and we’re already in the air homeward bound. Could I please spare some cash so he could get to the airport and buy a ticket to get home. I asked him how he was going to get past TSA with no identification. He gave me a blank stare for about 30 seconds, turned on his heels and walked away. Of course, I had to yell after him to tune up his story before he hit up the next guy.

I've run into one guy three times. Once in a gas station, telling me his truck was broke down in the next parking lot and needed money. I called his bluff, said I was a mechanic, Which truck is it? Maybe I can get it running."

Next time was in a store, he hit me up for a ride to a street a couple blocks away. Gave me some involved sob story about his wife being away in Florida, yada yad.. Pretty sure that would have led to asking for money.

Next time was in a different store, next town over. He went into a different routine (which also involved his wife) and when he was just about finished I started asking him questions. "Wait, your wife's back from Florida? Is your truck still broke down over on..." Big Grin He quickly turned and walked away. My regret is not robbing him. lol Sort of. Part of his act is he likes to look honest by telling you his name and showing you his drivers license. I should have snatched it out his hand and walked away. POS

"If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

Looks like a pretty good gig. Better than being cooped up in a cubicle all day.
