I spent much of this week in waiting rooms. The first visit went okay. The second was a low dose chest scan based on my history of smoking (former.) The next day I took the wife for a screening for cataract surgery. The following day, a follow up from the surgery (it went well) and set up the other eye on Tuesday. Late this afternoon, my chest scan results came in. Turns out I have a 10mm mass on my right lung. Am waiting on an appointment for follow up for recommendations.

Hoping for the best on your followup!

Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

Praying for good results from any future testing. Sounds like a simple biopsy might be next.

The retina specialists here have a routine waiting time of 2 to 3 hours after your appointment time. The front desk people have to deal with the customers. Scheduling isn't exactly rocket science.

Good luck with your health. I had a similar thing happened when the doctors thought I had lung cancer but they kept vacillating or was non-committal whether i had it or not even after several operations to get a sample.

I quit going when the oncologist wanted me to return every six months as I figure he just wanted residual income streams. That was 5 years ago.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Thanks for all the support. Apparently benign lung tumors are quite common down this way. I'll get an appointment by the end of the week. Looks like the wife's second cataract surgery went well, so far. That happened this morning. Now she's bitching that her glasses don't work. I told her that was the whole point.

Tell you my story. I had a slightly elevated PSA of 4.1 and had biopsies, which were negative. They told me to come back in 6 months. After those biopsies,I thought, it will be a cold day in hell before they see me again. My attitude was if the. biopsies are negative today, they're always going to be negative. I stayed away for seven years until my PCP convinced me to repeat the PSA. It came back 7.4.
I had surgery and radiation. That was 19 years ago. I'm lucky to be alive. I'd go back if I were you. Did I mention I'm a physician?
