If I had looked at the parts diagram first, I wouldn't need parts. Frown

My son got a couple USA made Penn spinning reels that hadn't hardly been used. We spent the morning taking them apart, cleaning them, and replacing the 30 year old grease.

The line roller on the one bail wouldn't spin and was clearly rusted, so I used ice water and a lighter to alternate heating and rapid cooling to break the corrosion. That worked. Then, I found out the corrosion was hiding a tiny Teflon bushing inside the roller. If I had known that, I'd have gone easy on the heat and maybe not melted it. It's never as easy as it looks. EVER!

That's how I found out the parts are still available; $7 for the tiniest bushing I've ever seen and $10 shipping.

I still have one of dad's old Mitchell 300s from the '50s. It may take some digging to find parts for that one.

There's a local shop that repairs rods and reels . They have been around for as long as I can remember . Not many of those anymore .

Mystic parts has a parts diagram for nearly every Penn reel. They also have parts for many of them . I've been using them for years .

I've used Mike's Reel Repair for many parts in the past. (Shipping can be a challenge anywhere these days).

I generally wait until I build a list (had a list of different reels that needed minor things) to minimize shipping costs.

On that particular site they have tutorials and parts listings/schematics, other types of gear and manuals. They also do repairs.
