Hamden106Me not smart enough to reload old laptop
Ugh!
Took my slow Hp laptop to the doc and he put in a new windows "build". It had been getting real slow and failing to do routine updates. Lots of hang on stuff went away like MWbytes. What a struggle that was.
Now pdfs wont open. Adobe is there but not opening pdfs. Had to reload open office. Got OO in, but Libre is there now from the build. OO and Libre don't like each other.
A lot of passwords are gone.
Lap top started as Win8. Very soon got the free upgrade to Win10. So you can tell the age.
Is it worth fighting any more?

If you end up reloading again, a Solid State Hard Drive should be a must.

4MUL8RTo me the hot setup is a reasonably priced Google Chromebook. Everything is on the cloud. Computers are $250. The only downside is giving your info to Google. You get free software, free apps, bulletproof browsing. Chrome OS. etc. If you are not Apple ecosystem, it is the solution. Every few years, new Chromebook.

0-0Pdf is a quick fix. Tell Chrome to deal with them and forget about Adobe.
If you need help setting it up i'll be delighted to help you. Just quit my IT job of 28 years and i feel a little useless around the house.
Done it several times with other members over the years.
