I am a retired military service member. I came to realize that the Lowes/HD discount is offered to not only thank veterans but is also a marketing technique to differientiate themselves between competitors.

Lowes was the first to offer discounts and they have been far more generous and easy to attain the benefit. Their new veteran's policy further promotes these goals. Thus, I shop at their stores regularly.

I do not feel entitited nor do not expect or complain if a military discount is offered at any business. However, the sentiment is appreciated and I, in turn, patronize their businesses more frequently.
