I followed a gal for 40 miles on a two lane state road. posted speed limit was 55 m.p.h.

this is a good road , new asphalt.

most will do 60 m.p.h. , the whole way

well this gal was staying right at 59 ,when there were no yellow lines.

she would slow to 55 in the zones with a single yellow line and then !
she would slow down to 50 in the double yellow line zones.

she had local plates on her 10 y.o. car,

I thought this might be the way they drive in Missouri or Wisconsin or something.

there were no other signs of d.u.i. or distracted driving,
just never had seen this before

I have seen this so often and it drives me up the wall. 10 - 15 over when it's safe to pass, 5 - 10 under when it's not safe. (This is typically in Arizona with Arizona plates)

I've experienced that behaviour here in Michigan more than once over the years. It's assholes that don't want to drive over the speed limit, or even quite the speed limit, but don't want to be passed, either.

It's rare I drive slowly enough that any sane person would feel the need to pass me on a two-lane highway, but, when it happens I'll even slow down to let 'em on by.

I wish people would check their egos before getting behind the wheel.

Wait until they get to place with a third lane so slower traffic can be passed. They'll kill their damned horses before they let you pass... then they'll drop back down to 50mph when the passing lane has ended.

I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

It’s everywhere. Asshats will speed up to 80 in three lane and slow to 5 under at the end. Ramming Speed!

there were four cars behind me for 7 miles , weaving in and out of our lane,
it looked like stock cars heating up their tires prior to the re-start

I have CARS that have some pretty serious get up and go, so when I encounter idiots like this I blow by them as if they are standing still at the first safe opportunity.

In all my life I've only been busted once for speed while doing this. In that case the trooper testified that I immediately slowed down after the pass so the court gave me a bit of a break, no points on my record if I wasn't cited for another traffic infraction in the next 6 months and a 48 dollar fine for 59 in a 55. BTW I was clocked at 78 so that was a rather good break and another reason why being courteous and polite to the Police can work out well for you.

I've stopped counting.

Yeah on a bike I just pass them wherever it's safe be it solid double yellow or not. It becomes worse when there are cars lined up behind the slow poke who won't pass.

You need to experience Summer in Montana sometime. Roads full of out of Staters, many in slow assed motor homes. All going barely the limit or under. SEVERAL slow vehicles lined up, try to pass on roads with limited passing zones! Why we have head on crashes occasionally; bad passes.

I used to run into this all the time when I drove to Vegas. There would be a passing lane every now and then people would be doing 50 the entire way and when the passing lane opens up they do 100... then back to 50 after the passing lane. It’s real annoying so now I just fly to Vegas because I can’t stand the asshats on the road

Ya'll think you have it bad, I'm in Florida. It seems to me that all the other states send their bad drivers here. Big Grin

The other day on the way to work I was 3 cars behind a "blue haired wrinkly" driving 40mph in a 55mph zone during the morning commute. We were on SR52 which is a 2 lane rural road. There are only a few passing zones and opposing traffic was timed perfectly to not let anyone pass. When SR52 finally opened up to 4 lanes she moved to the left lane and continued at her leisurely 40mph pace. When I got close enough to see the driver I found she was indeed a "Q-tip" and she from somewhere in PA.

She was driving so slow that she was out accelerated by a cement truck, and a pissed off Florida Cracker in my CRV, leaving the light before I75.

"Blue Haired Wrinky" = Eldery person whose haired is so gray it looks blue in the sunshine.

"Q-Tip" = Elderly person so short all you can see from the back window is their gray hair making them look like a Q-Tip.

Drives me nuts. Same thing last night. 30 in a 50 but was finally at speed when the passing section was reached. Booted it and left them behind. Roads here are so curvy that passing on two lanes can be few and far between. It might piss off the slow poke but I’m past caring about feelings.

I HATE THAT SHIT! Mad
Had some jackoff on a motorcycle doing this exact thing. 100 when there was a passing lane, 60 when there wasn’t. (speed limit 65)
He didn’t think anyone would speed by him with a DPS car having someone stopped on the side of the road...he was mistaken.
If he would have gotten behind me afterwards I would have regretted not having a large container of BBs to pour out in front of him.

Was driving home from Ohio last night. Mostly empty 4 lane highway. There's a kind of gradual banked curved area where US30 crosses I75. It's not sharp by any means...I leave the cruise in my Suburban set at 70, and it negotiates it just fine. Last night, this douche from NY in a Mini Cooper came flying up behind me right before we got to that area. He went around me, then straddled the centerline blocking both lanes, and slowed to 55mph so I had to slam on the brakes. Once we got through the curves, he hammered down again and was gone. Mind you, I'm in a Suburban, he's in a Mini Cooper...if I can take the curves at 70, there's no reason he can't.

About an hour later, right before the IN line, I saw him pulled over on the side of the road in front of an OSHP trooper, blue lights going. I laughed and laughed and laughed Big Grin.
