Its been annoying for a while with the videos that start playing and you can't stop it. Now to have to sign in to read some articles? BS.

Guess Ill be using a different site for news.

FoxNation stuff I think you pay for, so have to sign in to see it. I can't blame them for that since they have to earn money for the site and I don't have to see it.

As far as the autoplay video goes, I have an extension in Brave called "Disable HTML5 Autoplay (Reloaded)" which stops all videos on virtually all sites I visit from playing.

Yes, they have auto-play enabled on their embedded videos and have been doing this annoying shit for a long time, and yes, they are now restricting formerly easily-accessible content.

I'm not signing up for anything. If it's not easily accessible, I'm just not reading it.

It seems like a lot more stuff these days are going behind paywalls, I get that you have to pay the bills to survive but even local newspapers are doing it which IMO is going to be their demise.

I no longer even click on links to Fox news articles. They immediately throw up a "turn off your ad blocker" thing. I considered it, until either Brave or uBlock Origin noted a plethora of tracking accompanying those blocked adverts. Nope.

Since I could never figure out how to read an article and hit the “back” button on my browser to return to the main page where I left off, and since I frequently click on the wrong story because yet another ad has loaded while I’ve been browsing through headlines, thereby shuffling the contents down the page, I’ve considered Fox News’ website to be a PITA for years.

These new changes pretty much mean I’m no longer looking at it at all. Most of their news is either not actual news or the coverage is shit anyway. Little actual content and whoever edits their stories seems to not speak English as a native language.

So no one else uses a browser extension to stop videos from Auto-playing? I am just curious as to why not? Is there a disadvantage I'm not considering?

I thought Fox was for freedom and for values we hold dear.

Now, when I see stories from Fox, I find an alternate source. I cannot believe Fox wants my e-mail and won't share news they gather and report without an "account."

There is a limit to the monetization of my identity.

You can use a temporary email address from 10 Minute Mail to register.

https://10minutemail.com/

Edit: Nevermind. They never send the confirmation email within the 10 minute window.

All the network news sites have become click bait of some sort.

Even when you find what's supposed to be an actual news article, the reporting is so inaccurate, poorly written and agenda driven, right or left, that I have to search elsewhere to see the real story.

When I wake up, I click on any of the majors to see if some world event has happened and if I see something worthy, I look elsewhere to try to determine what actually took place. Besides that function, they're useless.
