Saturday, Oct 19 at Sam's Club, my wife purchased a pair of 14k gold ear rings as a gift for our daughter. After getting home she thought they might be to "dangle-ly" and daughter wouldn't like 'em. ($274).

Today (Tuesday Oct 22) we went to Sam's Club to return them. Receipt and ear rings in original box, went to the (NO)Customer Service Desk. "I'm sorry, you've already returned these" WHAT, if we returned them, why do we have still them? "Let me go get a manager". Manager can't figure this shit out either. "Check your Bank Account and see if you have been refunded the money, give it until Thursday to see then come back". ME: If we got the money back and still have the ear rings (me smiling) what gives you the impression we will bring them back?

Soooo, now we wait a couple of days to see if there is a refund to the bank account. The charge was on the account.

Did they used to work for the government?

“Sorry, sir, the system says you’re dead so we can’t talk to you about your account and changing your status back to living.”

“But you agreed I am who I’m supposed to be and I’m sitting here in front of you alive.”

“I can see that but our system is never wrong.”

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

It's not unusual for people to shoplift an item and then return it for cash . You can thank the dishonest people for making it hard on the honest ones .

I've got that, but the Customer Service desk computer shows the item returned. And, the jewelry is in a locked display case. We will see what happens Friday morning when I stop at Sam's on my way home from my Chest CT Scan. I am prepared to go full "I want to see your supervisor" mode, or "I'm not leaving until we get our money back". Smile

They said it had already been returned. According to their computer.

It sounds like an employee "Returned" it and pocketed the cash. They need to get store security to review any cameras they may have on the jewelry counter for the purchase time and refund time and question the employee on duty at those times. Tell them you want them to put their instructions down in writing and sign it so that when you dispute the charges with your Credit Card company they can't change their story and say it was never returned.

Opening time this morning at Sam's Club. Go to Customer Service, they told me to go to the Jewelry counter. Lady there doesn't know how to do a return, calls a Manager. Scan my Sam's Card, scans receipt, put the Bank Card in the card reader. BOOM, here's your receipt for your return. Return $$ show up in our bank account almost immediately.

Don't know (or care) how they fixed it, just glad I didn't have to get all serious with them this morning. Also got a Negative for Lung Cancer from my CT Scan. Good morning so far. Now for some French Toast!
