Lazy listeners and readers who then think they know exactly what you just said or wrote when they don't. Sometimes they slap a label on you. You're supposed to magically shrink into nothing if they toss out some terms: Nazi, Fascist, commie, racist, redneck, misogynistic, bigot, left-winger, extremist, etc. They're in a hurry, too busy to process anything that might cause them to change.

"Spanx" products have evolved tremendously over the past 10 years or so to include all the new variants like often seen at the gym. The original version that started it all was like a lightweight girdle, but called something different since "girdle" had such a negative connotation to the "modern woman".
