Another "Special" Month Dedicated to [x]

SpeedbirdAnother "Special" Month Dedicated to [x]
My point of frustration is:
Why can't we just have a plain old normal month? You know, enjoy the best month of fall in peace, but I guess some people cannot simply leave well enough alone
(TV reminded me that October is gay history month. Not to be confused with the whole month of June that is dedicated to [gay] "Pride". How it was decided is a mystery to me. I'm not hating, just so tired of having stuff shoved down my throat 24/7.)
Oh, and in case you were not tracking: May is "Mental Health Awareness Month" but, July is "National MINORITY Mental Health Awareness Month"... Do minorities get double the awareness in this regard or are they segregated? IDK, stay tuned

83v45magnaYeah, 99% of it is all BS. Gay Baby Whales and all that. Also apparently every month is truck month.

Maybe we could use weeks instead of months. We would not run out as quickly.

Because being normal is racist, homophobic, anti-delusional, bigotry?

FredwardSlightly OT, but I hAve found that if I DVR everything I want to watch, I can skip right thru the commercials and PSA's, where most of the bullshit is. OTOH, I don't watch much because almost ALL of the new shows want to lecture me on social issues. This season the subject appears to be "generate fear of AI."

I believe that only gets a day and it's scheduled on February 31st.

PrefontaineFuck all of it. This and that month is special and each day is slotted for something. I don’t do holidays either. I believe in God so every day is Christmas and Easter. I believe in America so every day is July 4th.
So the only “real” holidays to me are Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Those who serve, have served, and those who have fought for our freedom and are in the grave. Those 2 days are special to me. The rest of the holidays, all the rest of them, fuck all them holidays. It just means a shit load of traffic, hype, marketing, consumerism, and bullshit.
What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

tatortodd[tangent]Funny story on "Pride" month.
Several of my peers and I had noted that one individual had high future potential with the Corporation. He works in our 2nd largest office which is not in the US, and we thought it'd be beneficial for him to have an expat assignment here in US. Work in person with some senior leaders and learn some behavior traits, interact with vendors based in Houston, etc.
He goes through the whole work Visa process, I'm assigned as his manager, and he finally arrives just in time for "Pride" month. He notices that many of us (eg me) wear our security badge on a lanyard around our neck, but doesn't have one as his home country's office everyone clips it to their belt. As luck would have it there is a table set-up in employee cafeteria with "Pride" month security badge lanyards. Instead of the ordinary black nylon it's multicolored.
I notice the new "Pride" month lanyard but don't say anything as someone's orientation is none of my business and has nothing to do with work. I noticed he switched to a black nylon security badge lanyard a month or two later but once again don't say anything.
About a year later we're driving to a meeting together about an hour away and I ask him how he is adjusting to life in the US. That's when he tells me that he had no idea what "Pride" month was and he wore the security badge lanyard because he was proud to work for a company that would move him halfway across the world to invest in him. I'm generally pretty poker faced around my employees but that generated some giggling. [/tangent]
