LeemurMower is uncooperative
Only day off since last Sunday, clear sky and warm enough to get the mowing done. About 15 minutes into the job and the blades stop turning. Looks like my PTO switch went bad. Dealer isn’t open today.

Checked the spindles, belt, fuse, etc. Blades can be turned by hand, switch just won’t make them turn. Minor issue, I’m just pissing and moaning.

HRKbypass it with a jumper wire, just be sure to pull the wire off when you get off...

WolfpackerI know that this reply is at least partly my own fault. I have a lawn tractor, a backup riding mower that is many, many, many years old. I also have a self propel mower and a small width push mower. Needless to say I did not buy them all new off of the assembly line.
However every spring a minimum of one will not start without some work and monetary investment. At least there is usually a combination of the group that will allow me to keep up with the growing season until repairs are completed.

Dealer is only a few miles down the road from work so I’m going to get a new switch at lunch. Jumper method is just too dangerous for me.

muzzleloaderI put a new carb on my 25 year old Troybuilt last year and told myself I was done with it if it gave me any shit this year. Touched up the blades, gassed it up and one pull start. No new mower for me.
Good luck Leemur.

LeemurI’m an idiot. Didn’t realize the clutch control wire hangs underneath the bottom plate of the engine mount. Guess a stick or something snagged the wire and damaged it. Stupid design. Stupid me.
