Got my wife a set of the Kyocera ceramic knives and never looked back. They hold their sharpness so much longer, and does great for 98% of the cutting job she needs. That way I just need to maintain 2 metal knives which are less frequently used.

My wife "you need to sharpen some knives for me, they won't cut at all"

I sharpen two... fairly well... knowing how they are abused by her.

Her... immediately takes one from me and proceeds to slice a pizza with it... on the metal pan she made it on.

We have two pizza cutters in the drawer.

My mother cut herself all the time. When she did the dishes all the knives along with the silverware went into the soapy water all at once. I finally stopped sharpening them for her over this practice.

Since my wife was a chef, and a good one, it has never been a problem for me.
