Today = 4 weeks, to the date, when the bullshit is over. Normalized traffic, lines, name it. 28 days from today is January 5th. That’s when most people realize it’s over, I’m broke, and the craziness starts to subside. 28 days later..

From November 20th until January 7th every year I make it a point to not set foot in any retail establishment for any reason. The grocery store and gas station are the only exception.

We give only token gifts except to grandchildren any more. Black Friday is only the day after thanksgiving for us. Christmas is only expensive when we travel. My granddaughter got a bike.

Yeah, I can't wait for the return to normalcy around mid January. I like to go out on Saturday afternoons to relax. Hasn't been all that relaxing for the last month. This message has been edited. Last edited by: wolfe 21,
When I was a younger man I enjoyed shopping right up through 12/24. I usually had all my necessary shopping done early but liked watching the madness. Now, Amazon baby!

Text from my normally unflappable wife as she was driving in the vicinity of a large mall (Altamonte Mall): "Be careful driving today. They are VICIOUS!"

9 days baby, finally got under 10. A week from this coming Monday, normalcy!
The highway by my house was backed up for many miles, bumper to bumper, this evening. Earlier this week, oh my. I saw multiple cars with a right turn signal on, in the right most lane. At the last minute, the left blinker comes on instead and they cut 4 lanes of traffic at once. People doing U-turns where they shouldn’t causing other people to have sit at a light, twice. Then people speeding like crazy. 60 mph in a 40 mph city street. Aggressive, right on your ass and rear bumper because you are doing 42 mph in a 40 mph zone. Streets remind me of the Grand Theft Auto video game. This is worst I have ever seen so that means the hangover from all this bullshit is going to be immense. Mid January these people are gonna be pissed!

School here doesn't open until Tuesday January 7. We get an extra day of insanity.

It’s finally over. Fuck the holidays. But the bullshit continues as it just hit below freezing here to start off the non-holiday thing. And I’ve got a jury summons tomorrow. Got damnit!
