Yesterday I had the pleasure of getting my upper teeth removed due to a screw up by my prior dentist. A couple years ago I had a couple implants done by my prior dentist and he screwed it up big time. I didn't know it at the time and wouldn't know until I went back to the practice years later for an adjustment,(this year in fact), only to find it is under a new owner/management. My prior dentist had passed away a couple years ago and a newer/younger dentist bought the practice. The new dentist told me that the older dentist who did my work, not only screwed up my teeth/implants but of dozens of others. There were many lawsuits against the older/original dentist, I came to find out through research and whatever money his widow had is now gone or hidden. So I got screwed over quite a bit with no recourse. I was gonna need some major work done per my new dentist and then got a second opinion, only to find out what my new dentist said was correct. Apparently, the original dentist should not have even had a practice due to issues with his work. Now I am sitting here with an immediate denture and this thing is huge. I am fortunate to be in the situation I am in and thank the good Lord for it. Eventually I am going to get a permanent upper and am told they are much nicer and slimmer. Hopefully, that is true.

Sincerest condolences, patw, from someone with a history of too many teeth problems. May things get sorted out sooner if not later.

Are we talking an All on Four? The best results are a commbination of an Oral Surgeon and your regular dentist. Cost for upper is about 26k.

Not all on four just yet, just an immediate denture which fits like a cheap mouth guard, although it isn't cheap. I will probably do a snap-in denture with implants, as it is a bit cheaper overall but I am still researching everything.

i feel you!
last year my daughter went to a new dentist for cavities and came out with composite veneers. put on wrong in shape and color. it was causing her pain.

took her back to my dentist and got color correct porcelain veneers out of pocket to fix her teeth and color.

still can't find any lawyer willing to go against the other dentist.
most are saying they won't do anything because she wasn't maimed or killed.
i just want to be reimbursed for the porcelain veneers and them to pay for the next set of veneers because that's what she will need forever. she's only 21.

Not minority enough!

They are available. It may not be worth it. There is a list of expert physicians willing to testify in court, I would imagine the same with dentists. To me pictures should do the trick.

Thanks Ripley.

Sorry to hear about your daughter's issues Chowser. I don't know what it is about finding a good dentist. I hope I have a good one now, as he seems pretty knowledgeable and caring.

The dental board should provide some satisfaction. Look up the Dental Board in your state and look under filing a complaint. It usually involves getting your statement notorized and of course furnishing the pictures.

Yes. However there will be multiple visits to fit properly{less than 10}. It just feels big. You have to learn how to speak{takes time} and they only come out every three or four years. You have your choice of enamel or something stronger. I know of no one who is unhappy. The snap on are cheaper but less satisfactory. It is worth the 26k.
