So Im sick of Hulu...paying over $60 per mo and they force you to watch the commercials. And now trying to force me to subscribe to and pay for Disney + and ESPN + (already get Disney + for free with Verizon work phone).

Went to Spectrum - had them back in TX and you could leave the tv on a channel a d FFWD or RWD through the commericials if you left the room with a cable box.

They cant get up to date cable set top boxes with the chip shortage and the boxes (tried one, didnt work, tried another newer, didnt work) they did give me are so out of date that they are non-HDCP compliant and "blow up" (black non-compliance screen) my other HDMI devices.

Just waited in line 45 mins just to turn in my box and cancel service.

I might consider their streaming service if I dont have to wait in line again but not today. And if I am forced to sit through commercials...deal breaker.

My father has a box he's been trying to turn in for over a year.

Cable company in still doing the "don't let anyone in the building" thing they started during the height of the covid panic. I guess they realized it was a lot easier and less stressful (and they could work much much slower) not letting customers inside.

You have to go to the place, scan a QR code with your phone (which he can't do with his flip phone) and it puts you in line for them to text you when it's your turn (as much as hours later). They won't answer the door, or answer questions when letting a scheduled person in. He gets nowhere on the phone.

If you do go with the app, make sure you have a device they support, the Spectrum App will not work on the Amazon FireStick. You can't get it through the Amazon App store, and all the online tricks to get it to load don't work

Pretty sure there's a Spectrum Roku app...will confirm tonight.

I'll likely cancel SpewLu tomorrow before the next cc charge hits and then go Wed and talk to the guy I worked with at Spectrum last week...he seemed pretty knowledgaeble.

You don't have to wait until tomorrow.

Hulu is pay-ahead. So you can cancel at any time during that billing cycle, and retain access until the end of the already-paid-for period.

The ones on HuLu....

Yes totally agree...

They are all either fucking meal delivery, fintech (like Chime "We are not a bank..."), web retail shit like Poshmark and ZooLilly, or prescription drug ads that are mostly lifestyle.

Its almost like HuLu thinks there are no people in my demographic (Im not quite retirement age but will be there in less than 10 yrs) dont subscribe to HuLu so no commercials...just for millennials.

OK update.

Turns out Spectrum Live TV streaming, while the quality is really good...you cant pause rwd or ffwd live TV... FYI

Canceled that.

Now they are billing me for the set top box cable tv service I never received...spoke to a nice CSR named Erica today and hopefully she sorted it out for me.

My company uses Spectrum for our 1GB up/down dedicated fiber line. Thankfully that side of the business is run much more professionally.

I cancelled Spectrum last week after 20 years. I expected to be on the call with a 'retention specialist' going back and forth but to my surprise the first agent I talked to offered to cut my bill by 30%. I declined and the entire call took 10 minutes total. Dropped the box off at a Spectrum store the next day, done.
