I'm 16 pounds into a 20 pound weight loss diet. Fortunately, it's relatively easy for me to lose weight up to a point. Simply quit eating between-meal meals and a little portion control at scheduled meals. I'm active enough, I just eat too much, especially in the Winter. I eat because I'm bored. The other key for me is sensible snacks. Not eating AT ALL between meals is doable, but it's a huge pain in the ass and makes me grumpier than usual which nobody wants. So, apples, carrots, plain popcorn and the like, in small portions and at scheduled times: One halfway between breakfast at 0500 and lunch at 1100, another halfway between lunch and supper at 5PM. And now to the question: How does one tell when a rice cake has gone stale?  Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

Rice cake is only a landing place for a glob of peanut butter.

Lots of carbs in popcorn. Throw some butter on there and you'll be better off. It tastes a whole hell of a lot better, and the extra fat will sate you quicker so you don't eat as much. Can't help you with the rice cakes though. I think I'd rather eat a piece of cardboard. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.

I like Franks hot sauce on my popcorn, prolly strange for most folks though, whole bunch of zeros on the bottle health wise.

Roughly the same thing, only the glue tastes better. Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

I mastered this almost 30 years ago. I don’t eat between meals. I just eat smaller meals every 3-4 hours. That’s 6 meals on weekdays and 5 on weekends because I tend to catch up on sleep on the weekend. Instead of snacking, pound water. I drink 120 oz per day but that doesn’t include the 1/4 to 1/2 gallon I consume at the gym. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

I've heard that, but I'm 74 and on Flomax. I'm already pissing ~50 times a day... Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

Cardboard? Why not? Cardboard is made from wood fiber, and fiber is good for you, right? Doc is always telling me to eat more fiber. .

50 times a day?? WTF? Is this what I have to look foward to? Say it aint so!

Well, that may be a slight exaggeration, but the combination of diuretics for blood pressure and Tamsulosin (Flomax) for enlarged prostate WILL get you very familiar with bathroom facilities. I would say that 15 or more times a day (24 hours) is a reasonable estimate. Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

I know . Just kidding. How are your dioramas coming along?

Haven't worked on the diorama for a while now. Other projects plus a creative block on what to do with the remaining "real estate". It's a long narrow strip and I want to do something different with it and not repeat/expand things I've already done. Something will bubble to the surface eventually. Ok, but like I mentioned, the best solution you’ll ever find is smaller meals more frequently. This will shrink your stomach over time, and your metabolism will increase. You have to eat the same small meals at the same frequency. Within 30 minutes every single day. Your body will develop a memory, and memorize that food is coming in 3 hours, and it will help you to not store fat, and in fact, burn it. Once the body learns food is always coming, well it doesn’t want to store fat like the bad eating habits in the past. Flushing the body with water is also important. I quit training people many years ago. Had done it on the side for years, NASM cert + I have studied nutrition for decades. I quit doing it because almost every single time when I said you need to change this, do that, etc, they’d rip an excuse right off the bat. I can’t do X because of Y. I mean not even trying to change anything or listen to more experienced folks. And they would say, angrily, that can’t do X. Cut out man made crap. Protein (fish, chicken, meat, in that order), rice, sweet potatoes, fruit, veggies is what you need to eat. Anything man made like chips, cookies, Popcorn, etc, toss it. Sugar toss it out, or at least keep it to a bare minimum. Lots of water and exercise, which is dependent on age. You could literally change your body and health in 3-6 months, but you have to be militant and treat it all like your life depends on it, because it does. What am I doing? I was able to drop the prostate meds by drinking lots of water, 3 to 4 liters a day. I'm also doing the 5 or 6 small meals a day thing, with an emphasis on fruits and veggies. Helps with the diabetes, too. My stomach must be shrinking-we went out to lunch today and I took half of it home with me. Down about 10 pounds in fairly short order.
