HRKThis forum is not a search engine

Come to think of it, you do seem to tell people to "please do a search" a lot.
4 is SF's built in search engine

all you need to do is post a question and withing minutes you'll have valid, researched links to answers on the forum!
It's a great service, kinda like "4 what is the velocity of an unladen swallow" and volia! Bob's yer Uncle

casI understand this, and I have seen lots of similar posts in many forums that last few years. "Why are you asking this here, go use Google." Well you know if you ask Google, the number one hit is this thread on this forum.

Most of the time the search hits will be on forums. And the only reason those hits are there to see, is because some asked "here".

cyberiadI usually learn something in the discussion here. My 'deal' is the context-free thread titles like "Question?" or "help please". Is it too difficult to put a few words about your topic in the title? You don't need to know anything about the web or "the internet" to do that.
In terms of a search engine while the enshittification of Google search continues unabated you can add site:sigforum.com to your search term. It still works ok for the most part.

wishfull thinkerThe funniest and most memorable response to any post I ever posted was a response to my using the forum as a search engine-apologies to anyone offended by my offense.
The Question?
I have a S&W Ladysmith with a frozen cylinder. Any ideas On how to loosen her up?
The answer!
Buy her a drink and tell her she's pretty.
It's still funny

Odds are about 95% that people will get more accurate answers here than with a search engine. Because there is an amazing amount of knowledge in this forum.
