It's Tuesday. Time for another USPS rant.
A few months ago, I had to wait most of a month for a small parcel from Utah. It took almost a week for the seller to ship it, then it made a grand tour of the greater Phoenix area for over two and a half weeks, including at least three return trips from the Phoenix hub to my city and back again. It took filing a request and a series of phone calls with a manager at my post office before she managed to snag it off a truck before it got sent back to Phoenix. "Why did this happen?" The best she could manage, looking down at the package with my address clearly legible on a fresh-looking and undamaged label was "I have no idea."

I was out of town for two weeks this month and got notice that a suppressor I'd been talking to a manufacturer about was available, and got an invoice for it. I had no idea they'd already done the Form 3 and that it was ready to ship to my FFL. This was on the 11th. I did the Universal studios with the wife and son that weekend, actually forgetting about it, and then got a reminder email Monday that 14th. I paid it that night, and two days later on the 16th, I got an email from my FFL that they had it. An hour later, I got an email from the ATF that my Form 4 was submitted. Since I always get delayed, I figured I'd worry about a mount for it when I got back in town. Wrong. On the 21st, I got an email that my Form 4 was approved, and twenty minutes later, I got an email and a text from my FFL letting me know I could come pick it up. I got online, priced it out and ordered a Resilient Titanium tri lug from Otter Creek Labs because they had the best price shipped. I figured it would be waiting in the mail box when I got home on Thursday the 24th, or at worst, I'd have to wait a day or two.

That's where I fucked up. What I should have done is asked if my FFL would price match them, because they had them in stock. I also trusted that the postal service wouldn't bungle this. Too much to ask.

OCL took their sweet time mailing it, sending it out on the 23rd. It arrived in Avondale the 26th, then went to Phoenix, then back to Avondale, then back again to Phoenix. Understandable. Then they sent it to Mesa, but a post office in the wrong zip code on the 27th, then to another post office in Mesa, but also the wrong zip code yesterday, then overnight it made it to yet a third wrong zip code in Mesa this morning. I just left that post office, where they told me I had juuuuust missed the truck and it was on it's way back to Phoenix.

My only recourse, according to the lady at the post office I spoke to this morning, is to fill out a request for the USPS to intercept my package and deliver it to my address. Yes. I just filled out an online form telling them the tracking number, when it was shipped, what it is, and request that they stop bouncing it all over the fucking greater Phoenix area and then mail it directly to my house, which is what is on the label they keep scanning with their handy-dandy computers. I had to log into their website, and formally request that they stop fucking around and do their job, providing no more information or resources than they already have available to them. Truly mind boggling.

We've gotten the wrong mail delivered to our house since we moved in two years ago, sometimes for people on the other end of town. I had a package delivered to our neighbor across the street and four doors down, and she has had our packages delivered to our house, and the numbers aren't easily transposable, nor are the names even remotely similar. Twice in the last several months now, I've had packages bounce all over the valley and nobody be able to tell me why.

I can tell you why. It's because the system has gotten too big to fail, nobody's afraid to lose their job, nobody wants to take a second and look at a label and see if they can figure something out. How much time and fuel gets wasted while an automated system sends packages like these all over Hell's half acre? I can see it landing in Avondale, then getting sent to the Phoenix distribution center, and then to my post office in Mesa, then getting loaded onto a truck and sent out for delivery to my house. That's as far as it makes sense to me. Instead, it goes from the airport to the regional distribution center to the airport to the regional distribution center to three successive wrong fucking post offices then back to the regional distribution center. And I'm supposed to listen to anyone who's jumping up and down about how Trump shouldn't take a hatchet to the US Postal Service? UPS and Fedex never screw up my deliveries this bad. Jeff Bezos is evil incarnate and he managed to put together a system that can get a package in Guangdong to my front door in less time than the USPS can manage from friggin' Salt Lake City. IF THE ATF CAN PROCESS PAPERWORK FAST ENOUGH TO GET A SUPPRESSOR FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO MY HANDS FASTER THAN THE USPS CAN GET THE MOUNT FROM KENUCKY TO PHOENIX THEN SOMETHING IS VERY, VERY WRONG.

I think once I calm down, I need to get with the local postal inspector, or the postmaster, or whatever they call the grand cyclops wizard in my particular area, and ask him if there is anything he can do about un-fucking things.

My ongoing bitch with USPS is their online mail notification system. I get a daily email from USPS that tells me I am going to get X number of mail pieces and/or packages.

Often there is no mail at all or mail is missing that was due to be delivered. Or its a couple days late. Since I cant see my mailbox from my townhouse, when I find the mailbox empty after being notified mail was to be delivered, I wonder if my carrier even showed up to work that day.

A pretty lady delivers our mail. However, she does not run on all eight cylinders. She knocks so softly you can’t hear her. Then wind up chasing her for any packages.

Joined that service a while back ,it's been good at the home mail, but it will only notify me of non Business Reply mail (BRM) at the PO Box, which is exactly what I need, there are days where the only mail is BRM...

I would get this in the morning which makes sense I would know what is in route to the house or office. Now they are coming late afternoon or evening, after I've picked up the mail, what is the point of a notification service that sends the information post delivery...

That's the USPS

I bought a small scanner radio antenna recently. It was located in Wisconsin. It took SEVEN days just to leave that state once USPS had it in their possession. It appears that once it reached Colorado that it started moving. It now looks like I'll get it on Friday - 10 days later!

This is for a package that weighs LESS than a pound!
