Thank you Very little |
Seriously what the hell is wrong with people, that you would even come up with a plan to damage a historic tree. They should hang the sob's up by their thumbs from the tree, suspended from a crane. Link Two more arrests made over felling of world-famous Sycamore Gap tree Two more people have been arrested over the deliberate felling of the world-famous Sycamore Gap tree in Northumberland. Northumbria Police said two men, both aged in their 30s, were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage on Tuesday. They have both since been released on bail as enquiries continue, the force said. The loss of Sycamore Gap has been felt deeply across the community as well as further afield Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Fenney-Menzies A 16-year-old boy and a man in his 60s who have already been arrested in connection with the incident remain on bail. The sycamore, which stood in a dramatic dip on Hadrian’s Wall, was cut down in September in what police believe was a deliberate act of vandalism. Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Fenney-Menzies, of Northumbria Police, said: “The loss of Sycamore Gap has been felt deeply across the community as well as further afield. “As a force, we have seen many touching tributes from those who have detailed what this iconic landmark meant for them personally and for our region. “We’ve been working tirelessly to identify anyone responsible and bring them into police custody and we are committed to getting justice. “I hope this recent wave of arrests demonstrates just how much work has been undertaken by our dedicated specialist teams in what has, so far, been a very difficult and complex investigation.” The 50ft tree was looked after by the Northumberland National Park Authority and the National Trust. It was among the UK’s most photographed trees and was made famous in a scene in Kevin Costner’s 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves. The tree has been removed from the site by a crane, and is now being kept at a storage facility by the National Trust.

If I were Emperor, the bastages would be doing a LOT of community service, supervised by sadistic nit-picking drill sergeants. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

And the community service would involve planting enough elm, oak, and sycamore saplings to completely rebuild every wooden ship of Royal Navy of the 17th through 19th centuries. Nice is overrated "It's every freedom-loving individual's duty to lie to the government." Airsoftguy, June 29, 2018

I’d also lump it in with deranged mental states out there. It’s a little like the miscreants that pushed over that balanced rock out West a handful of years ago. To what gain would they cut the tree down for? Of course, common sense was in short supply.

WTF? I remember that scene in Robin Hood. Assholes. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. Stupid mindless vandalism. I hope they throw the book at them. That being said I have never heard of Sycamore Gap nor do I have idea why this tree is famous. I saw that Robin Hood movie but it certainly wasn’t a good enough movie for me to remember a tree. I don’t remember any tree playing a role in the story either. Has any motive or reasoning been discussed?

Famous or not , it was a beautiful tree and cutting it down just to be an asshole is unforgivable .

I agree. I hate vandals. Still wondering why this tree is famous though.

What a bunch of self centered jerkoffs. How old is a 50ft sycamore tree?

Agree. I’m long past tired of it. I want DWI/DUI like penalties for using one while driving too. Cam set up on squad car. If caught looking down at your phone (not mounted up on the dash for navigation per se) while driving, instant arrest and fines, and penalties that match DUI. For most they are an addiction that exceeds the Opioid crisis. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone
