What the heck is going on? Either the Bermuda Triangle had drifted over my house or the Rona has mutated to attack my electronics. I have always had "gadgets" of all sorts around. Most pretty reliable but this summer everything at my house seems to be breaking at an alarming pace. Here is a partial list of items that come to mind that have shit the bed in just the last 3 months. Some are fairly cheap items but others are not. Many of these are battery powered and it happens one at a time so I can't blame it on power surges. Door entry lock keypad... $130 Wireless outdoor thermometer ~$25 Wireless outdoor rain gauge ~$39 The NEW Wireless outdoor rain gauge I bought to replace the old one ~$39 Bath light motion sensor ~$30 Garage light motion sensor ~$30 New (12/2019) cordless Dyson ~$600... thankfully still in warrantee AV receiver/amp. $600 used. They say "Bad things come in threes". I wish bad things came in ONLY threes. They also say "When it rains it pours" Yea. Collecting dust.

Have you noticed any triangular shaped light patterns drifting silently above your house recently?

I'll wager you live in the "Chinesium Zone" and if you check the labels they're probably from china, therefore junk to start with and you just have a run of bad luck happening quickly. No offense intended. .

No offense taken but... The thermometer and rain gauge are made by an american company in Wisconsin. The Vac is made for an American company in Malaysia. The lock is a Schlage. An American company owned by Allegion, an Irish company. Some of their locks made in Colorado. Mine? IDK. The motion detectors are Leviton and listed as NAFTA compliant to be labeled as made in the USA . The AV receiver is a Sony, Japan. I could have done much worse... Collecting dust.

Any chance a power surge or lightning strike damaged the ones that were plugged or wired in?

Raised Hands Surround Us Three Nails To Protect Us |
We are rowing the same boat my friend. I swapped memory cards in my game cameras. Get home to review my pictures and one of the cards is empty with not a picture taken. Strange as the time before was when I swapped cards and batteries so it should be all good. So I go and pull that camera completely and it is not even powering on. I swap cards to the other cameras. Go home and review my pics from the working camera. About 10 days in I’ve got a bubble blur on all my pics and video. Guessing water has gotten in the lens (not been back to pull that camera). I took the camera that was not working apart and it appears when I swapped the batteries I moved one of the spring electrodes that makes contact with the negative ends of one of the batteries. I was able to get it back in place and get the camera working. Still need to get the other water filled camera and see if I can dry it up and seal it back. I wanted a little screen for my boys to watch shows on the longer trips in the Tundra so they don’t pick at each other all sitting in the same row. I had a 7” monitor so I bought a fairly expensive solid metal mount so it would not bounce around. Took the ball mount portion to Home Depot with me to get some Ubolts to mount to the headrest post. I get home and can’t find the ball. Call HD thinking I left it on the register by accident when I went to grab my wallet. They could not find it. So I go online to order another ball mount and find they make one specifically for headrest posts so I just order that. I return to HD the next day to return some other things I bought extra for another project that I ended up needing. Parked in about the same spot and what do I find in the parking lot? Yup my ball mount that had clearly been smashed by multiple trucks. Ohh well $20 my fault. Get home and the new mount has arrived and the Roku Express I ordered. Hook everything up and a solid connection can’t be made on the screen. Plays for about 10 seconds and says no signal for about a minute and comes back on. Take it in the house and test on the regular TV and same issue. So I send it back. I just ended up putting an old tablet I had on the mount. That made me think streaming would be nice in the Suburban but it has an composite video/RCA video input and everything anymore is HDMI. So I buy an HDMI to RCA converter at Walmart. Plug an old Roku 2 in and it works great the trip down. On the way back there is video but no sound. Get home and test on the little monitor I had in the truck using the converter and same issue no sound. Try on the TV inside with different cables and it does not work at all. Try on the monitor and half works. So I try the Roku with HDMI directly to the TV works fine. I then try HDMI directly to my little monitor and no signal at all. Try an Amazon Fire stick and no video on HDMI. So the HDMI is now shot on my mini monitor!! So I feel you. 2 cameras thankfully I fixed one. Roku dead on arrival Converter worked for about 2 hours Monitor HDMI input is shot. No major company appears to make a streaming device that hav RCAs. Guess I am stuck with getting an Android box no name thing or trying another converter. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!
