Got a combo 12 cup / single brew Keurig when we moved, less than 2 years ago. Spotted green algae in the water tank, cleaned it out & now it won't brew more than an ounce or two on either setting. Glad I kept the 7-8yr old old one I had before. Still works great, just can't make a whole pot. I like the single cup convenience, but am debating moving to something else. Just venting, frustrated. Worth a shot, even if it's nearly 2 yrs old. The Enemy's gate is down.

Did you use vinegar for cleaning at all? I've heard it can damage Keurigs, unlike regular drip pots.

They usually come with a device you fill with a couple ounces of water, then insert in the pod holder and raise/lower to flush out grounds. I found mine did that periodically, so I used the cleaner and it works fine after. "the meaning of life, is to give life meaning" ✡ Ani Yehudi אני יהודי Le'olam lo shuv לעולם לא שוב!

They really don't last long. I had one that crapped out in the 13th month with just a 12 month warranty. I called and they said it's a known issue but since it's out of warranty, they'll let me buy another one at a reduced price. I asked to speak to a higher up which fixed it right. Sent me a new one. Hmm, vinegar always worked on my olsld, single cup only, machines. I did run a few ounces through it, maybe 12, and then it stopped brewing... The Enemy's gate is down.

Umm... How long do you have to keep water in a coffee maker for algae to start growing in it? The Keurig we have at work is the one with no multi-cup reservoir in it. So we just add the water to make one cup when we make our coffee. So far we've had nothing growing in it or lime deposits clogging anything up in it. We do use bottled water though.

I know a biggie is the purity of the water going in. Besides that, once over 2 years, usually on borrowed time. I use reverse osmosis water, current one about 2 years old.

Thanks, IIRC the older single cup machines I'd always used straight white vinegar with no ill effect. The Enemy's gate is down.

It gets used daily [multiple times] & get filled via the filtered fridge water, same as I've done for years So, I was pretty shocked to see anything 'not water' in the reservoir. The Enemy's gate is down.

I didn't notice until I got it home why it was cheaper via WalMart than other vendors. IT's a cheaper model with no clock & missing a couple settings of the other combo unit. Might give the other model a shot & hope for the best. The Enemy's gate is down.

Our old Keurig B25 model finally died. Exceeded its life expectancy by many years. Went to Costco and got the current Keurig model (Supreme?). It seems to be a much better design than the "classic" B25. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

These things (sometimes) have a problem with the water pressure in the pod/K-Cup, forcing grounds under pressure into the top "(vampire) tap where the heated water enters the pod. I posted the solution earlier. Sometimes just running a cycle dispensing hot water is enough, but the little "orange cleaning pod" works every time. It is basically a "bulb" that you fill with water, insert like a pod, then cycle the lid open and closed, then it should be fine. If not, then you have other issues. You can keep throwing vinegar at it and cussing, or try the solution Keurig supplied. Mine came with the cleaner thing. (posted while drinking a hot cup from my Keurig...) I guess I've good luck with mine - I brew 2 to 3 cups a day - more if I have guests, and other than routine de-scaling and a rinse cycle once a month its been bulletproof so far - I'm on my third one in 12 years

I only buy the lowest priced base model (original) and treat them as a disposable item, that I can get 2-3 years out of. If you have algae growing in the tank it means it’s not clean enough and you’re not changing out (using up) the water fast enough. They also do need a good cleaning periodically depending on water hardness. I usually fill mine up with white vinegar by emptying the tank of water and filling with vinegar and running cycles until what comes out is straight vinegar, usually 2 tanks, then let it sit on for 2-3 days then flush with fresh water thoroughly.
I’ve never heard that. They are clear to NEVER use anything BUT vinegar. No CLR or chemical based coffee cleaners because you may never be able to flush it all out.

I had a Keurig that lasted a few years and then it sprang a leak so I bought a new one and right out of the box it leaked so I returned it and bought a Cruisinart which works just as well as my old Keurig, doesn't leak and cost less. I do drain the tank once a week or so and let it sit for a day to dry out to keep mold from forming.

We dumped ours when it took a dump. Bought a Mr. Coffee and immediately realized how much better the coffee tasted - even if we did need to wait 15 minutes for the full 10 cups to be ready. Since I drink alone, refills are faster than a Keurig and still taste better too Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
