Excellent point!! Kroger self-check registers do this, requiring you to keep all your crap in the 2x2 bagging area until you're finished, which is why I believe the INTENT of the self-check is to NOT have a bulging cart-full. Walmart's doesn't...at least the one I frequent. Scan...bag...full bag...cart.
