I can't tell if I'm tired, or just lazy |
I just received a notice that, starting Jan. 1, 2023, they will be adding an $1.00 a month fee if you receive paper bills. I am only set up to receive local service and incoming long distance calls and the only reason I have that is because I like having a hard wired phone connection in case of emergency. Their notice makes it sounds like they are doing me a favor trying to force me to go paperless. C'mon man, it's the year 2022 There's no reason you need paper bills for stuff like this, personally I like it and have gone paper-free for most things. | |||

Honestly, I'm surprised more companies haven't gone to charged billing for paper bills and higher fees for taking checks in as payment. | |||

I have a couple of monthly bills that take checks or credit cards. They add a surcharge for credit card, which would be all electronic processing, but they do not add a surcharge for paying with paper checks. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים | |||

Basically recovering the CC charge from the issuing company. Seems companies bury the cost of processing charges from CC along with paper check processing. Lots of places do that now, I remember when the MC/Visa contracts disallowed passing through the fee, they'd shut you off. Then "cash discounts" appeared and changed the game. | |||

I used to love paper. But I've since gone to scanning documents and filing them electronically. I like just downloading my bills and paying them electronically. Autopay if possible. I don't need a physical tickler system to prod me then I don't have to go looking for where the bill is, etc. I think your landline phone isn't the landline phone you're used to. The old system had a 99.99% up rate and I think that was by regulation. Now, they're connected to the internet and is subject to their service levels. I'm embarrassed to admit that I received paper bills for my internet for almost a year without noticing they had a $5 "paper bill" fee. The bill was $73 each month including taxes and fees. Needless to say I called and told them to stop and put it on auto pay for $68. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride. | |||

Yeah, that one was on me. I should have said for the extra cost, it is cheaper to have them do it and easier for me. It's bad enough with all of the things my kids print out without having to buy more ink cartridges. | |||

This. Plus I need the reminder archived in my bill basket, so when it's banking/bill day, I have everything all in one spot, ready to go, and ready to record in my check register (though I do very few checks anymore...it's more about the register than the checks these days). I went with paperless with Verizon Wireless a couple years ago in order to get something like $5 off a month, and it's a bit of a hassle remembering to record their debit on my register from an email and/or text they send. | |||
