We drove from Houston to Pensacola today.
As we were in the Jennings, LA area, saw a couple officers on a rapid approach with lights on.
We were in the left lane & dropped into the L shoulder.
Multiple people behind & around us were oblivious & just continuing on their way.

Turned out, one of the cars that looked to be trying to get out of the way, was being pursued by the officers.

2 more pursuing officers trailed by a few minutes each & people just not moving out of the way despite lights & sirens.
Helped a bit that we had 2 cars & I was a bit more mirror conscious, making sure we didn't lose car #2.

The flee-er ended up pitted into the ditch, probably 10-15 miles along from when they passed us.

Today was the first time I've ever seen an active pursuit.
With it coming up on a crowd of cars & being a 'spectator' definitely not easy to pick up the runner.



The Enemy's gate is down.

I've been caught by surprise a couple of times. Chalk it up to loud music and closed windows. I check my mirrors regularly but it happens. Having said that, it's obvious that there are a great many drivers out there who could benefit from remedial driver's education.

I had to honk at some dumb idiot who tried to pass me as I was pulled over for an oncoming ambulance. I blew my horn at her, she looked over at me and I started yelling at her about how she needed to pull over. She actually replied that she didn't know.

How about a reminder that at a four way stop with stop signs the car on the right has the right of way??? I know grandpa that your drivers ed class was interrupted by the Kennedy Assasination , but maybe read your great great grandsons study guide????

Only if both cars stop at the line of demarcation at the same time. The operative word "stop" is one people seem to have a hard time with. If you are on the right and haven't stopped, but I have stopped, then I'm going.

An ambulance, police car, fire truck & mail truck all stop at a 4 way at the same time, who has the right of way?
