Needed to make a call to a Missouri business which doesn’t open until 9am there, so just before 9EST asked Siri to tell me the time at their location. Seemed simple enough. Answer that came back was it’s in the central time zone and it was 9:57AM. Since that’s halfway out in the Atlantic ocean, I said that’s wrong. It came back with an apology and the right answer - 7:57AM because “they switched from DST yesterday”.

Finally got the right answer but no explanation why a DST change moved the time two hours or why it was in the wrong direction originally. At that rate, self awareness seems like it’s a long way off!

This type of thing happens to me regularly, probably more than half the time. I receive an AI response that is clearly not correct, I state that it is wrong, I receive an apology with a different answer that might or might not be correct.

I do not trust that shit at all. It should not be called Artificial Intelligence; there's nothing intelligent about it.

Sounds like a basic rule (well, in addition to 'distrust but verify') might be to immediately say, in response to the bots' outputs, 'you're wrong' and see what they do.

Grok. Specifically SuperGrok for me.

It’s generally correct, and its clear, comprehensive, and well organized answers save me lots of time.

Serious about crackers.

Maybe a better description would be AG - “artificial guessing” to distinguish it from the thousands of years of HG - “human guessing” that preceeded it!
