I don't know the current price on Carhartt jeans because my retailer (the oldest one in America) has not been able to obtain the style in my size I prefer since Covid.

Started wearing jeans from LL Bean when I could nto get my favorite Carhartts. They are $60 a pair. I get about 6-7 months out of a pair before both knees are worn out.

A short PSA-for veterans and several categories of first responders, including retirees, IDme.com sets up a 25 percent discount on Carhart products. Got my winter wear that way this year.

I was training a new guy at work and one day he was griping about the price of pants. He later said he could only get one pair and was washing them every night for the last three months.

I told him to order four more and I would give him what they cost. Turned out to be $130 for four.

Seems like everything cost more these days.

I wait for the Duluth Trading Fire Hose Work Pants to go on sale. Usually for about 50 to 55 bucks. I get the regular Fire Hose not the Flex. The Flex material doesn't stand up to welding as good as the regular. I've never worn out the pants in general. What goes first are the pockets. They're made from the same material, but that's what goes first. Damn annoying to have change falling out of your pant legs.

One pair of the 5.11’s I wear almost costs that much, but they outlast many other brands.

My boots are $500, but they last over 10 years a pair.

I wear FR clothing for work. Whoo-boy, now those are some expensive threads. pants are $150, shirts are $120. My hoodie was about $250. if it gets a hole or has grease that cant be washed out, then I can no longer wear it. I took inventory of my work clothes recently and figured out I have about 2-3K worth of shirts and pants just for work.

If I may ask, what do you do for work?

Order carhartt online, use the military discount, it’s the cheapest I’ve found them.

My best friend, a fuel delivery driver for the Flying J/Pilot company, often talked of the expense of his FR (Fire Retardant) clothing he is required to wear. Although he received money quarterly from the company to buy FR clothing, he always had to dig into his pocket for extra money to fill out his required needed amount of clothing. Pretty dang expensive stuff, but if you need it, you need it, and there is NO substitute other than get out of the job.

Everything has to be FR: pants shirts jackets coats caps this that and the other and more.

If you can only wear it for work it is deductible.

For those who are able to itemize deductions these days.
