Effin' FedEx...

Ordered a mower part for a customer. FedEx dropped it off at the wrong address, complete with a picture to CONFIRM they dropped it at the wrong place.

That's bad enough, but the residents of said place are...to be kind...sketchy. This is based on my naturally judgemental, crotchety nature and several months of observing out-door marital disputes, screaming matches, visits from the po-po, a plethora of floodlights and cameras around the place and other red flags.

So, needing that part and not wanting to piss away the $25, I went over and knocked on their door. A young-ish female (I assume...) eventually answered the door and my very first thought was "Tweaker!" Anorexically thin, bad complexion, bad teeth, twitchy. "Nope, haven't seen any packages." Checked with the upstairs neighbor who was at least somewhat closer to the center of the bell curve and he hadn't seen anything either but was at least kind enough to check the enclosed porch. I hadn't seeing as the windows were festooned with "Private Property" and "No Trespassing" signs.

I'm about 99% certain that Mary Meth-head is lying to me, but have no proof so I started a claim with FedEx and we'll see how that goes.

The really scary part is I have two MUCH more expensive packages coming and they're both coming FedEx.

Would a printout of the delivery confirmation picture, which shows the specific drop point on their porch, help your neighbors remember the package?

That sucks. Hopefully once your claim with FedEx gets reviewed and you can prove that picture isn’t your porch, they’ll straighten up their delivery system, and get your package back. Or start a replacement from the seller. I really dislike FedEx too. They have lost packages, been totally late, and their customer service is horrible. Not sure why they’re even used anymore. I’m glad you’re back in these parts. I’m happy that you got to see your brothers and spend some time with them. My brothers are also scattered all over, but it’s like old times when we get together.

I doubt it. They'll just lie to my face and dare me to prove it. The hell of it is, it's a 10 inch long L-shaped piece of rod threaded on one end. Absolutely useless for anything but it's intended purpose.

Tiny town here in western ill annoy has a Facebook page for just this reason.

I wonder if, in the future, I can insist they ship some way other than FedEx? Any time I have a choice I go either UPS Ground or USPS, depending on price.

I'd be willing to pay a few extra bucks to get something resembling actual service.

I hate FedEx with a passion. To the point that when I'm shopping online, I look for vendors who use something - anything - other than FedEx. Even if their prices are higher.

The FedEx drivers out here can't read and really suck at math.

The confirmation photos turn out to be a blessing in cases like this. Doesn't help if someone takes it from your front steps though.

I tracked an Amazon package online once, where it actually shows real time you were the package is. It's showing the truck is on the next street! Awesome. So I go outside to wait for it. I can hear it drive down the road. I wait and wait.. no truck. Then I get the delivery confirmation email, with photo of NOT my house.

Hopped in the car and went around the block, matched the photo to the house.. there's my stuff. Went and grabbed it, just waiting for someone to see me and think I was the neighborhood porch pirate! Swell. lol

Doesn't much matter who delivers, they all suck. Amazon is the only service I use that has consistently good delivery. The one time they screwed up, I had a replacement the next day, and an apology and coupon for my next order.

Does FedX do signature needed? Also, what about having it delivered just to the terminal... I know Amazon now has local shops or such where you have to go and pick the item up... I presume this is for both special items you order and also for those that live in porch pirate land.

Oh, yeah, you can request and pay for signature required, but their worthless drivers ignore it and write “covid” on the form.

Fraudulent Express.

FedEx showed up with another package today and I talked to the driver. She's the regular on this route and said it must have been FedEx Express that mis-delivered the package as it certainly wasn't her. I find that entirely believable.

Particularly as FedEx Express was seen leaving the same location as we were talking...

Well, well, well.

FedEx called and said they went back and were "unable to retrieve the package", which comes as no surprise.

So on a whim, I decided to have a little talk with the town police and learned a couple of things.

1. My estimation of the quality of folks we're dealing with was spot on.

The cop asked if I'd contacted them and I said "Yes, and she denied any knowledge of a package, but I'm about 99% certain she lied."

Cop said, "They'd lie through their teeth, if they had any."

"So my initial suspicion of methamphetamine was justified?"

"Yup."

2. He said he'd call the owner of the building "who is a stand-up guy." I gave him my best side-eye and said "Mr. **** is not the first name that comes to my mind when you say stand-up guy." Turns out, he no longer owns the place.

So, while I still expect nothing will come of this, at least they'll know they aren't fooling anybody.

Also, the company I bought it from is doing a package trace and will get a new on on the way.

Well, glad you’re getting a replacement. Sad that FedEx express is so horrible. You would think as a company they would do some better investigating of their delivery service and drivers though.
And wonder what the police can or will do on your lovely neighbors? Catch them in the act? Somehow?
