PHPaulBut seriously, folks...
That's what's left of $350 worth of 2x6's. 7 20 footers, $50 a pop.

cparktdAll those people who have been making all kinds of crap from used pallets don't look so fooling now do they?
Wonder is any places are still giving them away.

Patrick-SP2022Norm Abram would be proud of you.
From an article about Norm.

This carpenter-turned-celebrity was “discovered” by creator Russell Morash, who had commissioned him to build a barn on Russ’s suburban Boston property. Russ was so impressed with Norm’s work (he had the smallest scrap pile Russ had ever seen) that he invited the carpenter to help with the renovation of a rundown Victorian house in Boston’s historic Dorchester section…

I haven't tried using it for "stick goods," but for panels there's
Cut List Optimizer. My team and I have used that several times, with great results (and much more efficient material usage than we had planned originally).
Politicians seem to have forgotten that they work for us, not the other way around.

PHPaulI'm a cheap Esso Bee, so I make every effort to minimize waste.
In this case, it wasn't rocket surgery. Building is 20x24 and I was hanging ceiling joists on the 20' dimension. Subtract the thickness of the 2x4 walls and a hair here and there for the fact that the walls aren't dead-nuts straight, and that's what you wind up with.
I have Cut List as well. At the price of plywood these days...

Blume9mmIn regards to this discussion... go by and look in the dumpster at some new home construction and see what they are throwing away... it has always amazed and baffled me.

With a few creative panel size descriptions, panels can become boards. Or pipe.

myrottietyI tell ya. I have to get a new fence. Worked out to $27 a foot is the math. He said getting lumber is ridiculous. 2.5 weeks for him to get all the supplies to get started.

It would be great if could you deliver the product to me at no charge. I don't have the money to pay for this but as this is a gift for my son, hopefully you'll be able to give it to me, again I'm a single mom, have no job and need this for my son for his birthday tomorrow. Thank you...
