Nine dollar shipping for a small dollar item that was not in stock at Office Depot. Amazon wanted 7 dollars. It is obvious what they are doing. Three customers on the floor and three associates. They are not long for this world with this crap.

Every time I see an Office Depot I am surprised that they are still in business. When I walk into one I’m convinced it won’t be for much longer.

If you have it shipped to the store for pickup, do they still charge you shipping?

It’s not obvious to me. What do you think they’re doing? "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I'm confused. Amazon wanted $7 for the item or $7 to ship it? Reason for my confusion is $7 to ship, with Amazon, is usually for expedited shipping. It's unclear to me who you mean by "they" (I suspect Office Depot?), much less what they're doing. There's going to be a certain minimum cost to ship things. I haven't priced shipping lately, but, from my past experiences and noting how, by all accounts, shipping costs have risen pretty sharply the last two or three years, I can well imagine that minimum number is probably damn close to $9 for UPS and FedEx. Last time I shipped anything was USPS and, IIRC, it was over $10 for regular 1st Class Package or whatever they call it for something relatively small. "America is at that awkward stage. I get free shipping on my ammo. TargetSports USA. Yes it is 9 bucks for shipping and I refuse to have a Prime account. I would prefer to patronize my local businesses. The item was a Daily Calendar refill that they should have had on stock, considering 2024 is right around the corner.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Thanks for checking. The item is out of stock at my store. The store manager said there is NO free pickup at the store I visit. For smoe reason Office Depot does not offer this service. If they priced the item at nine dollars and offered free shipping I might have made the purchase. Several years ago I purchased a desktop computer under the impression that Office Depot would flawlessy transfer the data and programs. At eleven pm the night before tech support called for directions. He did not realize this was an office computer and seemed irritated that it was an office computer. The store manager refunded the fee and I was able to find someone to handle the task. Wasted quite a few hours.

When the item is above a certain price, you get free shipping. That's because the retailer can hide the price of the shipping in the price of the item and get away with it. Ammo is above that price threshold, a $5 calendar refill is not. Pay the shipping and quit whinning about it or drive the 20 miles.

This is kind of what he’s getting at. Years ago a small company selling hardware to the US Government discovered that the PO were only reviewed for the material cost. They made a fortune tacking on outrageously inflated shipping fees. “That’s what.” - She

Staring back from the abyss |
Just ordered something weighing 8 ounces and wanted next day air. One vendor wanted $110...for an 8 ounce package. Found another vendor from the same general geographic area who only wanted $17. Guess who got my business? ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.

My workplace ordered a small part for a car that couldn't be finished putting together without it that nobody had locally. (Local dealers here suck for parts availability and practically everything else.) The actual cost of the part was less than $20, but the charge for next-day UsPiss delivery was $56 (they needed it in a bit of a hurry), and it didn't arrive until three business days later.

not that it matters, well too much, however big corporate locations have contracts with the major shippers (UPS and FedEx, not the post office) and can offer shippind discounts or free shippind due the volume of stuff they ship, and the contracted cheaper than average price they negotiate with whichever carrier, that is why some places only ship FedEx or UPS,, they have a contract, https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/
