My 18-year-old daughter is a senior in high school this year. We held her back in kindergarten to give her more time to grow, and she’s overcome a lot since then. She was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck and experienced seizures as a toddler. She also has a cyst in her brain, but thankfully, it’s stable and not growing.

Right now, she’s preparing for the ACT exam in October. Her last score was about 10 points shy of what she needs to qualify for a scholarship to an out-of-state university she dreams of attending. She wants to become a kindergarten teacher—her heart is truly in it.

Her life is very busy, and she’s under more stress than any young person should have to carry. If she doesn’t earn the scholarship, we’ll likely send her to our local college, which is three times more affordable and would allow her to live at home. It’s a practical option, but her heart is set on the other school.

So I’m asking for prayers—for strength, peace, and clarity for her. I pray she trusts the path God has for her, wherever it leads. Thank you for lifting her up.

You may want to check around and see if there are some ACT tutoring classes or individual tutors available in your area. Boosting a score up a few points with the help of a tutor may be well worth the expense. Prayers are also up and best of luck.

Count me in.

Have all consideration for disabilities been applied to her ACT score?

I didn’t know that was possible. I will discuss with Grok tonight.

Hoping for the best.

Have you all thought about going local for the first two years (save money) and then to the dream college to finish with that bachelor's diploma? Not a bad backup plan.

You got it.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
