Havahart traps...

...are great!

Until you put one out to catch rabbits...and you get a skunk...and your dog finds it before you do.

Thankfully he didn't get it too bad. The upside is that I discovered peroxide, baking soda, and Dawn works really well at getting out the stank.

Now I need to dispose of the carcass and wait a few weeks before I can use the trap again.

Related tip: If you catch another skunk and get to it before the dog does, covering the trap with a towel or blanket will keep Pepe calm enough to transport him and release him in another spot. Nervewracking, but doable.

Use the smallest trap possible.
Skunks are less likely to spray if they cannot raise a tail.
