| Mustangs....get but-hurt real easy.
2 lane in Fla. He was doing 55-60. I had been doing 65-70. Laid back a couple hundred yards and timed my accel as the last on coming car goes by. 90mph & climbing as I pulled left of center. As I pass, I hear him downshift & rev... too late, but he's gotta try anyway. Now I'm fearing retaliation or stupidity of some type, so I stay on it. Car pegged at 124, Mustang finally slows down after a couple miles. |

I definitely understand the frustration with that driver, but you need to be careful. That is "go to jail right now" territory under Florida's super-speeder law.

Its been years, but Houston had another, in addition to those 2. Double the speed limit would land you in lots of trouble same as the other 2. Don't know if that was HPD or a TX regulation. Got it 2nd hand from a coworker whose dad was a HPD officer. Glad I've mostly lost my youthful heavy foot now that I've had cars more capable of sustained higher speeds.

Savor the limelight
| New for Florida. Looks like it went into effect July 1 of this year. We weren't here for the summer and probably missed all the news reporting about it. Not that it would cause me problems, certainly not the 50 over posted, but it's good to know. I texted a warning to my son just so he knows as well. I know he's not going 50 over, but as young man he might occasionally be tempted on the freeway. |
