There are a couple threads running, re Second Amendment court victories. A common theme is legal action taken by Gun Owners of America. Being just six weeks shy of my 87th birthday, I feel that I really don't need membership in yet another organization -- who knows, maybe a one-year membership might outlast a "life" membership -- but I would like to send them a donation. The same amount of money as a straight donation would be more cost-effective for GOA, as they would not need to send me membership materials, etc. I trust GOA, but I do not have the same level of trust in the security of their website, so I do not want to use a credit card. One (this one, at least) would think that the "Donate" page of their website would show a mailing address for a check. Nope. The only option that I see is credit card donation. Ain't gonna happen, bro. Next step: Open the "Contact Us" page on the GOA website. Sure thing, there's a form to send an email. But wait . . . that form requires something called an "Access Code." No information about what an access code is, nor how to obtain one, and the website will not accept submission of the "Contact Us" form without an access code. These guys sure make it difficult to give them money. I don't want to give any more to Wayne at NRA. There's always Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, but I haven't seen any evidence of them doing anything effective with money. Same with Second Amendment Foundation (which curiously shares the same address as Jews for . . .). Hey, GOA -- if you're listening, please tell me how to send you a few bucks without using a credit card! הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

How about getting a VISA gift card for whatever amount you wish to donate and using that? After you've donated just cut up the card and dispose of it. ___________________________________________________________________________ "....imitate the action of the Tiger."

Check with your CC company. Some offer a one time only CC number to use for just this reason. I know Capital One does this. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. I have a Capital One card, and I do generate Virtual Card numbers when I need them. That's not the issue. For several reasons, I prefer to make donations by check, to just about any organization. Example: I wanted to make a donation to The Salvation Army. Their website lists many addresses for this, depending on how you want to direct your donation. I am totally baffled by
If any of y'all are GOA members, and have a means of contact, please feel free to forward my concerns and include the email address in my profile. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

I know I've sent them a check in the past .... I get something in the mail from them every month or less and will check the return address next time I get one.... I've been tossing them as of late. Just like with most places wanting money they think sending you an email or two everyday is a good idea. My Native American Name: "Runs with Scissors"

The contact page is a little wonky. But at the bottom of the page, the address and phone number are shown. Gun Owners of America | 8001 Forbes Place, Suite 202 | Springfield, VA 22151 | 703.321.8585 Screenshot below:

Just received a re-up from GOA. Address on mail back envelope provided is GOA Data Processing Center PO Box 277380 Sacramento CA 95827-9908. Doesn't mention checks, but credit cards. Return address from their solicitation envelope is the VA address mentioned above. I had my patience tested... I'm negative.

Thanks for the replies. I'll proceed from here. I just found some weirdness -- the GOA "Contact Us" web page requires an "Access Code." I mentioned in my original post, that I had no idea what an Access Code is, nor how to get one. I was originally using the Safari browser, latest (most current) version, and there was no Access Code shown. When I saw Patrick's post (above), I tried FireFox and the Access Code was displayed. No idea why I could not see it with Safari. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Back, and to the left |
It appears the access code is given, they want you to copy it over to the little box to the right of it. Like the 'are you a human' checkbox thing. I'd be pretty certain it's a setting in SAFARI that is preventing your seeing it. Some webpages have hidden stuff I can only see on brave if I switch off the 'dark reader' add on. There is also a phone number listed there: 703.321.8585

Thread Drift: My smart phone connects via Bluetooth directly to my hearing aids. If I had to pick the one thing I like most about having a smart phone, that would be it. Of course, if you don't have a smart phone or bluetooth enabled hearing aids, that would be a spendy solution... Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

I have been leery about donations in general because of the fear the money will never make it to its intended recipient. Even before this documentary/movie on HBO ~ I always had the feeling of corruption.

Mine are going into their eighth year. They work as well as can be expected, but no bluetooth connectivity without using a dongle that hangs on a neck lanyard. The dongle wasn't all that great, it went belly up, will no longer connect, and neither repair nor replacement is available (too old, discontinued). הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

If you look at Pattrick's screenshot above, it shows where the Access Code is and the code is printed and next to it, it says "Copy the code here:" I guess that's their version of a Capcha check to make sure you're not an automated bot. Wait, you're not an automated bot, are you? "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Same here. I knew one young man that stood outside of a grocery store collecting for the Sal. Army. He said one of the old timers showed him how to use a rat tail hair brush to take out the paper bills from the bucket when you had to take it with you to the men’s room. Also, I delivered several Mont Blanc pens to the Sal. Army headquarters in Chicago when I used to deliver office supplies.
