Amazon Brain Scientist Strikes Again

V-TailAmazon Brain Scientist Strikes Again
I bought some .357 SIG ammunition from a SIGforum member who no longer uses that caliber. Good transaction, he's a good guy.
The deal included just under two hundred rounds loose rounds in a ziplock bag; I wanted a better way to keep the ammunition, so I ordered four each, fifty-round MTM plastic boxes from Amazon.
Clicked on "Place Order" and less than twenty-four hours later, that was a package on my doorstep with four MTM ammunition boxes -- three of the type that I ordered, and the fourth one was for .38 SPL / .357 Magnum. Of course, the .357 SIG round, with a necked-down .40 case, is "fatter" than the .38 SPL round, and will not fit in the individual slots in the plastic box.
Amazon customer service is
usually pretty good about handling Amazon errors, but today’s chat with “Monica” (is that Peggy’s sister?) left me convinced that she had the IQ of a developmentally delayed earthworm.
I am not at all convinced that I will receive the missing ammunition box; I might need to roll the dice again with a different customer service rep.
Nothing better to do with my time.

MercuryI had a similar experience when I ordered an SAE socket set from Amazon and was sent a metric set.
The agent on the phone had no idea why I just couldn't use them. I got the feeling that she didn't believe me that they wouldn't fit, but she reluctantly initiated the return.

mikeyspizzaWho are these Amazon agents you speak of? I just returned a $200 bedframe with about 3 clicks.

SigSACMost people don't understand the difference between calibers - look up the model number of the cases and use that in any conversation with a 'customer representative'.

PatenI just buy misc. firearm related items from Brownells. They know what you're ordering and send the right stuff.

Glynn863I bought some casual shoes for my wife from Amazon. Unfortunately, they were way too narrow, although labeled as "wide". If her feet were 3 inches wide and 10 inches long they MIGHT have fit. I was able to return them and get a refund very easily. But here's where the "brain scientist" part comes in - I get emails every week, either asking me to reorder these same shoes, or write a review about them.

smschulzMaybe return the whole order as wrong and reorder then hope for the best.
They don't seem to have the ability to do complex transactions to fix an order.

That is exactly what I did. No discussion of caliber, just identified the three corrrect items and the one wrong item by the MTM part numbers as shown in Amazon's listings.

You are correct about product knowledge. In this case, Amazon was WAY cheaper (yeah, I know, you get what you pay for), free shipping, and overnight delivery (of an
almost correct order.

The current online order status shows three of four delivered and a new order for one more, currently out for delivery and scheduled to be delivered some time within the next three hours. Don't hold your breath, you might turn blue.

I'll update as the situation unfolds.

Here ya go.
This one is sized for .357 SIG, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, .45 GAP, and a few others. Slide-off lid. Three bucks and change, next day delivery in our area, stocked in the Davenport FL Amazon warehouse, so pretty local.
Amazon carries a selection of MTM boxes for various calibers, including the one that they sent that I did
not order (.38 SPL / .357 magnum).

HRKI do need a couple of these for loose oddball rounds that tend to accumulate for some reason or another.
Need to go see what I have and order one or two up.

GeorgeairSir you seem so chronically unhappy with Amazon it’s puzzling why you continue to buy there. Maybe for your health just use a different 100% reliable vendor with an easier return and service delivery model.

I'll take your suggestion under consideration.
Can you recommend a "100% reliable vendor?"

First places I looked, yo. The .357 SIG ammunition boxes were out of stock in both places.
Of course, if the SIGforum member who sold me the ammunition had any class at all,
any class whatsoever, he would have included the boxes.

PatenYou could keep those last 50 rounds loaded in some magazines. Just sayin'.

D'oh! I shoulda thought of that. Would have worked out perfectly; there were 199 loose rounds in the ziplock bag, so three boxes of 50 rounds, four magazines with 12 rounds each, and one in the chamber. Minor problem though, the P229 is still a collection of parts, waiting to be assembled into an actual pistol, so there would be one orphan round without a home.
