There are a lot firearms that just aren’t quite right. Same with cars.
I’ve long wanted a Colt Defender and so I started reading up on them. I realized that back in 2016 or so they changed the shape of the slide and I think it looks horrible now. They have put a carry cut on the front of the slide saying it was for better concealment. What a joke.
Also, the G10 grips that say Colt on them are some of the most unattractive grips I’ve seen on a 1911. I know I’m not the easiest to please but damn if companies can’t ugly up a 1911 fast. I’ve purchased more than one firearm that I wasn’t crazy about because I couldn’t quite afford the one I really wanted. I’m never going to make that mistake again.

Right here with you, especially on 1911's but it took 50 years to get here, and I've owned a lot of crap along the way. Now, if a 1911 doesn't say Wilson Combat on it, I don't buy it.

Same.

Had a few of the classic Sigs and wanted a few more. Then they came out with the 'enhanced' version.

Um, no.

Then they had to make the logos bigger. VA-FIVE! Got rid of my desire to get a P320 real quick.

I get a call from the LGS:

"Hey, aren't you the guy who said you'd buy a P320 if it didn't have all 'that crap written on the slide'? We have one that doesn't."

Yeah. If the logo and script are a bit much, I'm out.

If a 1911 has a bunch of stuff tacked on to it. I'm out.

Give me some clean lines and some rosewood grips and it is likely to go one with me.

Grips take 30 seconds to change.

Lots of things on a 1911 are simple and quick to change. But they cost more and you can’t add back the steel that was milled away at the factory.

Sounds like what you want is a used Colt Defender before they changed it
