We were in the "big town" last week eating out and shopping. As we left, we stopped at the Cabela's, as is our habit. Entering the shopping area, someone took issue with my wife's driving and became enraged, honking and shouting, etc. I have no clue why, and I was paying attention. When we left, we got into the car and onto the freeway. The wife said her tire pressure dash light was on, so I had her take and exit and grabbed the tire gauge. The right front tire was loosing air quickly. We went thru the bullshit hassle of getting roadside assistance and installed the pancake. We drove to our local tire store, and tire dude showed me the problem. It appeared someone (gosh, I can't imagine who) had used something like a box cutter to reach the inside sidewall of the tire and make a couple of lateral slashes, almost thru the tire. As we drove and the air expanded a bit in the tire, it tore thru. Replaced the tire (expensively) and we were set. I just can't imagine someone slashing tires for a road rage incident, but I guess I'm glad it didn't degenerate into a gunfight. Could it have been a road hazard thing? Possibly, but unlikely according to tire dude. Such is life. Glad it didn't blow at 75 MPH. Had that happen a couple of years ago.

People are crazy out there, glad you guys didn't get hurt, file a police report and see if Cabelas cameras caught enough to pursue the ahole...

Why the inside? If they went through the effort, I’d check your brake hoses as well.

That could have resulted in serious personal or property damage. Only by the grace of god. This goes beyond vandalism like a broken window or keyed side panel. If there is proof (biz CCTV, dashcam or something), guy should be charged for assault, attempted homocide, or something. Whatever is relevant beyond just property damage. To visually hide the obvious intentional damage. The guy was likely expecting the tire to be flat after that and if the slashes were in the front, it would be obvious what happened.

Mistaken identity possibly and shalshed the wrong car. Or perhaps a whacko that felt like they had been wronged in traffic. Dash cam, you should have a dash cam. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.

There is an OBD adapter that supplies power to USB cable dashcams. Is this okay to use (garmin)? Or is it better to somehow wire directly to the battery? Not sure I want to jerry rig wires inside the fuse box. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." Who knows? And yes, I was nearly due a service anyway, so I had my guy do a thorough inspection. This is the second time-a couple of years ago, some loony keyed the heck out of the same car. It may have been mistaken identity, it's a gray Corolla, so who knows. It may have also been some convict who recognized one of us, we both retired from prison service. I won't go so far as to check for car bombs, but I'll most definitely do a thorough walk around in future when parking in public.

About a month ago I came back to the company parking lot, had a nasty note on my windshield. My passenger side mirror was folded in. Mind you, this is a large lot, I was very much on the outside fringes. I drive a full sized crew cab truck. My offense was letting my back end about 4’ inside the spot behind me, pull through spaces. There is never a shortage of parking spaces, especially on the fringes, where I park. I have tightened up my parking, I thought it was a little much for the offense, foul language and all.

Lexington has a terribly outdated highway system. Actually pretty much no highways. With a short few miles of the southern section of New Circle Road being the only freeway one might use to get about town. Lots of people seem to have accepted the all-day bumper to bumper traffic and many just dawdle along without care of anyone else getting through the lights. People from elsewhere find all of this infuriating. “That’s what.” - She

You are correct. The roadways are about 25 years out of date.

Wiring to the internal fuse box is easier than you think. I had a Garmin years ago but it was a piece of shit that would constantly fail due to cold or hot temps. Switched to thinkware and zero issues. Thinkware does have an OBD2 hook up and hard wiring as an option. If you hardware it's just a ground, one wire to a fuse that has constant power, and one wire to a fuse that is only hot when the car is running. Just use fuse taps with a 5 amp fuse. That's the route I went since I use the OBD2 hook up for a scan gauge at times for transmission temps.

Cabela's undoubtedly has cameras covering that parking lot, file a police complaint and they will take a look. Friend did that in a parking lot hit and run and they got the people... By letting these people go they are free to do it to someone else... 60

I just installed Rexing dash cams in our vehicles, they came with the fuse taps to add a circuit that was stupid easy to do. The only "tricky" part is finding the correct switched vs constant fuse to tap from. I found that the online cheat sheets are not always accurate. I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself.

The fuse box is in the cabin? Or engine bay? Which fuse is used? I can try to find it in my owners manual. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." L.Tolstoy "A government is just a body of people, usually, notably, ungoverned." Shepherd Book

Look for a harness company that makes one to go from your dash cam to the factory mirror connection. https://dongar.tech/ Plug n play, no searching for fuses, running wires behind inside panels

Fuse box in the cabin. The fuse taps will use a 5 amp for the dash cam and you'll put whatever fuse in the second slot of the tap that are you pulling from the fuse box. Just make sure you get the right size fuse. There is a website, startmycar.com that has diagrams of fuse boxes for most vehicles and you can see what each fuse does what and the size. Alternativly you can use the Dongar cable if you have a powered rear view mirror. Keep in mind though most of the cables from Dongar convert to a USB port. Not all cameras are able to be powered by that, and if you want the ability to have the camera working when the vehicle is off then you need to hardwire or use the OBD2 port Feel free to email me with any questions and can walk you through it. It's easy. Actually going to do one for a friend this weekend.
