I guess it's a generational thing.
I'm a sixty three year old fart, if somebody my own age called me Bro
I think I would bitch slap him. Sorry, rant over.

PrefontaineGet mad about it “bro”. Keeping it 100, on a stack, no cap.
Then there is “bruh”, which is getting used more now than “bro”.
I already know a good amount of pidgin as two of my friends are on the island. But this new lingo, is lame, and played out already. Bro is not my pronoun you Gen Z twats.
What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

arfmelIf I may piggyback on this thread, I’m weary of being called “Boss” by people who I have never employed.

vinnybassThere are two people with whom I've shared the term "bro" going back over fifty years. One of them is my now long gone actual brother, and one is my best friend since the sixties with whom I'm still in long-distance daily contact. We've used this term between us since we were kids and it's a very natural part of our discourse.
Another best friend and kin by marriage I refer to as "brother" when I address him, and he me.
These are the only examples I adhere to. I can't stand, nor will I abide it from anyone else.
I loathe it's meaningless usage in the common vernacular of the day.

The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad.
If we got each other, and that's all we have.
I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand.
You should know I'll be there for you!

Oy. I recently spent some time with an acquaintance and their two preteen boys. The nigh-unending torrent of verbal diarrhea while they played had me questioning their sanity and my own.
It consisted of mostly the same half dozen or so slang words, repeatedly endlessly and absolutely shoehorned into every utterance until the sounds completely lost all meaning -
bruh,
sigma,
gyat, etc.
I began to wonder whether they both had Tourettes.
The ADHD Generation led to the Social Media Generation, who in turn have now led to this... monstrosity... that is both hyper/spastic and positively obsessed with stupid internet trends.
I can't imagine what it'll be like in another decade or two.

sandman76My grandson plays on a competitive 10U baseball team. The slang the boys use is hard for an old guy to comprehend at times. I sure do like spending time around them, though. Bro, bruh, rizz, no cap, drip. I think it's kind of funny to think back at the shit we used to say that drove our parents crazy.
