I’m exhausted. I have some smartwool stuff. But no more.

Where can I get wool socks and such made by folks that just want to make socks and such?
Just got an email from Smartwool touting their collaboration with “Pattie Gonia, the backpacking drag queen”. It points to an Instagram account. Look it up if you dare.

Drag Queens and “outdoor gear”? I’m crawling back under my rock.

I wore Wigwams for years before going to Smartwool. Looks like I'm going back to Wigwams.

I have a bunch of Smartwool and Darn Tough stuff. Some of my Smartwool shirts for hiking are over 15 years old.

I also have some Icebreaker socks and a shirt. It's good stuff just not as widely available. I don't know their political leanings though.

I pretty much bailed on Cabelas after they quit sending me the big catalog.
However:
They sell a mid weight wool blend sock that wears like iron for me and is very comfortable. Priced right, too.
The item number is 100112472.
There is a light weight version too. No experience with them.

Agree, the midweight ones are good to go from Cabela’s.

I wear these pretty much daily.

Ever hike the AT? In the few short trips I've taken there, I've encountered an abnormally large number of freaks. My brother likes it because it's relatively close to home, but I'm personally more than willing to put in an extra day of driving to get into as real wilderness out west and actually get some solitude. I've met a lot of great people while hiking, but there's also a clearly established subculture of weirdos.

LL Bean tried to push their "Pride" crap on me last summer. I closed my account with them and ended the catalog subscription. It's not just the gay stuff, I don't want politics pushed on me by anyone, let alone someone I pay. Leave me alone and just sell me stuff.

Point6 Socks have been my go to socks for several years now. As I understand it they were the founders of SmartWool before they sold the company.

You can see a list of organizations they support here. Examples: Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, Warrior Expeditions, a large number of outdoor related organizations...

I may be odd man out but I'm not happy with Point6 socks (the product; no idea about the company. The company may be more aligned with our views than others, I just don't know).

I bought a few, they sounded good on paper. But they look old and ragged after two uses and washings. And they are thinner than expected relative to other brands (P6 medium / heavy weight are thinner than brand D medium and heavy weight socks). Will not buy again. Darn Tough has worn for years and still look almost new. I don't buy Smartwool nor Point6 now; neither last well for me. YMMV.

I've not had that experience with them - I would recommend contacting them to see what they have to say.

I do have a couple pairs now that have holes worn in them, but they're probably 10 years old. I've been tempted to try out their life time warranty but 10 years is a pretty good life for socks.

Since they're partially wool, I wash them in cold water on a gentle cycle and dry on low.

Another point6 lover. I bought 3 packs of 3. Gave a couple pairs away and have a clean pair everyday. I also bought some as Christmas presents.
I also really like their koozies. I’ve given away some to friends/family. They all like them. They fit in your pocket, or wear them on your wrist. Great for parties.
Also, they usually have a 35-40% off sale with free shipping around holidays.

Sorry to hear that about LL Bean. I just got a Bean down vest to replace a Patagonia that was mislaid; would never buy another Patagonia product ever. They are THE worst.
