Why have these yellow and black bumper stickers exploded in popularity over the last few years? You aren't student drivers, stop putting them on your damn car. What are you even hoping to accomplish, when you're clearly not a 17 year old who just got their license? You think the rest of us cant tell your age?

Never seen these bumper stickers, so please send me a bunch. Student driver logo and the name of the donating dealership on the side are common.

I posted about this here sometime earlier this year, these things are EVERYWHERE now.

I think it's a mix of crappy drivers who think they will get some grace on the road for their bad driving and also a good number of new immigrants coming here learning to drive for the first time. I see a lot of Indian (as in from India) drivers with them on their cars around here. Usually female, I don't think they learn to drive back there.

I'm still kicking myself for not stopping and taking a picture:

A few years back, I was heading home and came across the local driver's training car, a Dodge Caravan type minivan complete with the Student Driver banner on the back, hanging over a snow bank with the front end through a fence. Big Grin

It is for drivers looking for a way to tell their fellow motorists that they genuinely don't know how to drive.

They have to get these stickers and put them on the car since they don't already have license plates from Florida.

Correct. The Pakistani doctor next door told me that the capitol in Pakistan now allows female drivers. She went on to say that many women are so progressive they wear blue jeans. Her nephew from Pakistan enrolled in a college close by and will be living in the dorm. Her mother is taking an apartment across the street so she remains safe. I told the doc that there were a lot of Saudi men there and she thanked me profusely. It seems she was afraid that he niece would be influenced by radical Islamic thinking.

Lord, y'all are taking this seriously.
In addition to all your identified demographics, how about the ones who just thought it would be funny, like all the other bullshit that ends up on stickers.

Many people know how to operate a motor vehicle. Very few of them know how to actually drive.

My dear old Mom did not learn to drive until she was 48. Even then, it was only because of of my father’s medical conditions.

I doubt she’d have used a bumper sticker though.

I like to have one on the back of my Charger Hellcat - right next to the emblem.

And I do not look like I am 17 years old either.

What is funny to me, and maybe a little derogatory - seeing them on cars with Asian women (30+ years old) driving. I sometimes wonder if their kids put them on there as a joke.

I like to cut them off, tailgate, brake check, turn left in front of them, and just genuinely harass them in general.

Figure they may as well learn early how folks in WA state drive. I consider it a public service Big Grin

They are all over DFW, and I mean everywhere. Lots of immigrant women sporting them, perhaps they have never driven before. But that sticker matches their driving skills 100%.

Mine is a magnet. My daughter just got her learners permit. She puts it on the trunk when I let her drive.

Here we treat them as they look. Give a little extra patience.

My mom didn't learn to drive
Until her late 40's.

And there are two widows here in tiny town that took driving lessons together when their husband's passed away.
