A few months back we got smashed with medical bills thanks to a lovely emergency surgery for myself and some oddities for of our kiddos that has resulted in multiple specialist visits and TONS of lab testing. So we are enjoying paying thousands. Instead of draining a majority of the savings cash I am making payments with no interest.
So currently have a monthly payment to:

Surgeon
Anesthesiologist
Hospital

Specialist
Different Hospital
Hospital Lab

Of course all 6 utilize a different online bill pay method.

Every last one of them told me I had the wrong account number and would not allow me to make payments.

Similar situation with me a few years ago....after being completely frustrated dealing with their "systems" I just set them all up on my auto bill pay from Chase...If they cannot accept electronically Chase sends them a check at no cost to me and I have it on auto pilot

+1, Kevmo. Chase makes it real easy to spend that money, all in one place. It doesn't have to be automatic payments, either, I sign on a couple of times a month and pay everything.

Sometimes they will take a lot less for one lump sum payment. It doesn't hurt to ask. I have saved a lot over the last couple of years by calling and asking how much if I pay it all now? If they say no deals, oh well then you pay them interest free on payment plan

Black...I did the same with my late wife's astronomical medical bills from a year and a half ago from The Cleveland Clinic in Ohio...they were great to deal with. I worked out a "I will pay what the insurance will not pay" payment at a discount with zero interest over a twelve month schedule...trust me when I say the outstanding amount left after her insurance had maxed out made for sleepless nights...but Cleveland Clinic was fair and I paid the last of the bill a few months ago. I will say their online bill paying website was so easy and user friendly...I wish Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga would take a clue...they have been a pain in the butt along with the many "separate providers" who I think double bill (my insurance has found almost a dozen instances of such) and are still sending threatening letters (even when they have been paid off...still the emails and snail mail show zero balance with an amount due Roll Eyes )...keep records...they hate that!...

Hang in there and do what is humanly possible...some of them never make it easy.

As I was on hold with the 3rd or 4th billing person I contemplated this but am concerned it would possibly not get credited properly.

Each time all different bills said my account number was incorrect.
Plus my wife carries the insurance so the bills arrive in her name but myself and son are of course listed as the patient.
But of course while on the phone trying to pay they had no issue pulling up the account with the number I provided.

I can tell you and, speaking only from my experience, I have never had an issue with a bill not getting credited and if there was an issue i can download a PDF proof of payment that can be sent to payee so they can track from their end
