I have yet to be publicly confronted like this. Then again, a "compliment" I got when I stopped shaving my head for a few months was that it made me look "more approachable". Frown

Christ, it really seems like people around here can't detect a joke very well lately. Roll Eyes

I read BigSwede's comment and immediately chuckled.

I am always amazed that people who are convinced all gun owners are homicidal maniacs looking for an excuse to pull the trigger yet feel completely safe initiating a loud confrontation if they see a hat, shirt, sticker etc.

I'm sick of it. Yes, I was well dressed, older, and successful looking. I can change that, but I'm not going to change because of assholes. I may, when my wife isn't with me, just start wearing my gun t-shirts and polos. I have a ton from working the gun store, every brand's sales folks would come by and hand them out. I usually don't, because their standard size was 2xl for handing out, for obvious reasons. I am no longer so oversized, shall we say.

I wear a BCM cap that I got thru the forum on a karma for the great majority of the year. The most I have ever been asked was what BCM stands for. I said ' they make a quality rifle'.
Since the cap is so sweat stained, I get young adults that will compliment me on it. So I guess it has character.

I occasionally wear a CZ hat. Very confusing logo on it keeps me hassle free.

Where do it say that Fredward called the person an asshole?

OP refers to him as "an older white gentleman," not as an asshole.

Someone that approaches someone eating in a restaurant, uninvited and starts spewing anti-gun stuff because they're wearing a Glock hat, IS an asshole!

Totally agree. He also should leave you alone when asked. Otherwise, he might find himself in a pickle.

You must know my sister. Big Grin

I still remember talking to her and casually mentioning that I took my mature 12-year-old son to the range to teach him shooting fundamentals. She exploded and loudly called me all the slurs you mentioned above and then some; she closed by threatening to report me to Family Services for child abuse.

When none of that worked, she refused to talk to me for several years.

But, yeah, I was the irrational one. Eek

Ah, but they are totally ok with government people having a monopoly on having guns! There's some weird defective logic in their brains.

I do believe it true that they project their own emotions and impulses towards violence onto lawful gun owners. History shows an increasing level of violence from the left.

had a customer once, came into the shop I worked at briefly before going at this business as an owner, not a clerk,

anyhoo, he was in maybe every other week, sold him some 22, cannot remember what, maybe a 10/22 or a 1911,

after some big national news school shooting or some event, he came in one day and was doing his usual walk around and look see,

gets to a rack of AR's and started mumbling about how they should be banned etc etc

at the time the pressure was on semi auto AR's mostly, but the laws that were floated about were semi auto anything, ,

so I asked him why he thought that,

he prattled on with all the MSM talking points,

so I asked him if he knew what else would be banned?

no, just these, (pointing to the AR's)

in a very polite way I reminded him of his past purchase, and how that would also be banned, as well as a pile of other stuff he had looked and in the past and possibly owned,

I attempted a nice polite informative conversation with facts on the proposed bills, but he could not see past the Talking points from the MSM and eventually walked out, grumbling,

took a month or so before he came back in, and he never mentioned AR's to any of us again,

During covid and the riots, there store where I worked sold perhaps two dozen ARs a week. They were going like hotcakes, and many were purchased by liberal lefty types (bumper stickers, purple hair, etc. The owner speculated that we would be buying them back once life settled down. We did not.

I can't understand how a person would act like that and not expect to get punched in the face. I guess that is an example of real liberal white privilege.
