OK, I dislike horses and many of their owners as a general rule, I admit it...but... I live in rural horse country in NJ, land of the entitled horse owner. They come flying down my road towing their useless beasts, will pull out on you in a heart beat because "look at me, I have a horse in this trailer". The little princesses who ride them come by my house dressed like they are going to a fox hunt and the damn horse drops a load in front of my driveway that you need a snow shovel to clear... But god forbid if you walk a dog by their house and it poops...OMG!! I go for daily walks on a county owned trail that used to be a rail road track. In the parking lot they have a stand where dog owners can get a plastic bag to pick the poop...OK fine... Thats if you can find it with all the gigantic horse turds that are all over the stone trail, why don't they have to pick up their crap.. might ruin their manicure I guess... What ever happened to the glue factories...

I'll see your horse turds and raise for cattle in ranch lands.
After you've been around cattle, horses turds are nothing.

I feel your pain. The spring meets in Central Ky are coming up, and the horse trailer traffic is horrific. I live RIGHT in the middle of a bunch of horse farms. The worst experience I had was with a trailer. The farm workers clean the stalls and load it on an open trailer, then hit the state road at 60mph to clear it off so they don't have to deal with it. I once was behind one on a motorcycle and the shit nearly knocked me off my bike.

NJ and horses is double the douchebaggery.

However, in SC, horse people are on the whole, mindful and respectful of those around them. However, there are idiots who gravitate to SC who cannot drive and will cut-off 18-wheeler trucks, trucks with horse trailers, hay trailers or RVs because they don't understand the laws of physics.

As a teenager, I got a part time summer gig working at a horse farm that taught dressage. I thought I would meet chix. And I did! All of them hated me and thought I was their personal slave. I found the horses were smarter than I gave them credit for and they hated me too. Did you know that horses can put a fearsome bite on you? I figured that out by experience. And a kick can be fatal! Mucking out stalls is no fun. I did learn to saddle horses, groom them and to take care of tack. One of the nags I cared for would ignore all my commands when riding him and he would find the nearest tree and either scrape me off on a low branch or rub me against the trunk until I fell off. He would then trot off to the barn.
The whole thing showed me that horses entail money, snobbery, entitlement and physical injury. Think Christopher Reeve. One summer was enough for me. No more horses and the horsey set!

Or New Mexico. It seems like everyone has them around here. MOST horse owners around here seem to be able to handle it well.

Horse owners are like BMW drivers- some are assholes and some aren't. It sounds like the ones around you fall into the former.

Dads family were dairy farmers, I know cow pies...lol

Fredward,
I ride, and have to weave around the turds and sometimes when you are whipping around the backroads you don't see one until it's nearly too late..

Funny you mention that, I'll try to explain my area..

There is a 4 way stop intersection a few miles from me, one goes to your typical large NJ suburban type town, the next goes to another part of that town with a major high way, shopping center/mall and restaurants, the next heads to my area, mostly agricultural farms and right on the edge of yuppie, Horse, Gated community type area-some huge Horse farms and tons of money. Its a well know fact that people coming from that town or my area are very courteous and wait their turn at the 4 way, People coming from that shopping area leg and turning either my way or towards that town are also well behaved. However, if they are going straight towards Horseland and are driving either a BMW, Range Rover, Tesla, and especially a Denali you can almost count on them cruising though the stop right behind the person who went when they should have. Those coming out of that area are way to important to even stop fully... and everyone around here knows it...

I thought I'd get pounded for starting this because I know there are some very respectful people who own and like horses. I obviously don't like the owners around here and I'm not real fond of the animals because one nearly did me in years ago...by accident... so I have no use for them..

When I was married to my 1st wife I had worked my ass off to pay for a hunting trip (Elk) out in Colorado and had enough xtra to have double $ for the time I would be gone. My son had left his turtle on the deck and forgot to take care of him, so he croaked.
She went and bought an Appaloosa mare because his turtle died, told me nothing. And then she bought a Mustang pony too!
I came back with a 5X5 Satellite Bull and was stoked!
My buddies wife asked me when was I going to see my new Horses.
4 Months later we began divorce proceedings, Fuck Horses!

Gee. A route in Ohio I would take to my Sisters went right thru Amish country. Never saw any horse turds on the roads and did spend time behind a buggy more than once. It seems that the Amish put a catch bag on the horse for the poop. Considering the value of poop as fertilizer I'm willing to bet that those catch bags got emptied on their fields.

I've stopped counting.

How about the farmers that pull their manure spreader from one field onto and down the road, w/o turning it off, before pulling into the next field?

No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.
