Every year we go the entire summer without anyone being sick, then the kids go back to school and inevitably bring something home that gets us all sick. Sure enough, happened again this year. Youngest son brought something home two weeks ago and I'm the last one to get over it yesterday.

The twist this year is I had to pick up my youngest son early from school yesterday because he vomited before lunch. He did three more times after we returned home. Here we go again. Apparently many students went home yesterday and the day before for the same thing. Heck is wrong with parents sending their kids to school sick?

I get it, I’m empathic to it, but they will call you at work and tell you to come get your sick kid anyway. It’s short-sighted thinking which we’ve been guilty of, but not in a manner that fucks it up for everyone else. I’m supposed to be helping my dad with a bunch of stuff, but there’s no way he can ride the vomit comet.

I needed income when I was trying to start a consulting business in the last century, so I substitute-drove school buses for a while.

One day I was driving a short bus and a parent put a sick kid on, then scooted before I could stop her. I had a school nurse meet me when I dropped off the kid, who immediately got sent home, I was vomiting myself by the next morning. Took me a week to recover.

Adults do it too. Stupid fucks at work will come to work all winter, sick as fuck. Refusing to use their sick time (shared with vacation time) and isolate themselves so they don’t get everyone around them sick. We’ll have whole rows of people home, sick, and not working. Jacks our entire shit up.

It’s a society problem man. For a few decades now, if I get the flu, or some serious cold..I see my PCP, get my scripts, from him, and a dozen or so masks like the nurses and doc wear in his office. I was doing this 20 years ago for when I’m sick but I have to go in public like to get groceries. I’d respect my fellow man, and go lift at the gym, at like 11pm when nobody is in there. Full healthy, sick, whatever, I wipe down everything I use before and after. Most people just don’t give a shit about anyone but themselves. And many of them, don’t even care about themselves either. Stupid ass fucking parents make for stupid ass fucking children. It’s a plague on society. And our society today is a full blown clinical study in narcissistic personality disorder. The apps and phone tell them how spethial they are, and they believe the lies. It’s turning most people into narcissists.

^^^100% right. I’m sick of other people making their problems my problems. I have enough of my own and I work hard to keep them my own.

School rules say he can’t go back for 24 hours, so we kept him home yesterday. Of course we would have done that anyway. By the rules, he could go back today, but he’s sick this morning as well, so home he stays. He’s going to be behind now. They give him however many days he missed to make work up, but he also has to do the new work as well. We’re trying to keep him studying, but he’s really out of it.

I told my crew several years ago: "If you're sick, stay home. Don't come in here polluting the rest of us. Rest, get well, and come back healthy. The rest of us will do our best to keep the pace while you're gone."
