Local indoctrination center high school has plastered "Sumner Strong" posters all over the place.
It was lame when Boston did it, it's positively nauseating now. What exactly have you done to make that statement even remotely applicable? Stayed home from school and sat around in your pajamas playing on the computer? Spare me.
Gonna graduate without even completing the last trimester of the year? Gee, that's a noteworthy accomplishment.

This rant I can fully support. I wish they would just express the sentiment “we will get through this” another way other than “XXXX strong.” As if it’s to remind people something they have always shared but, not really, we’re hoping you get on this bandwagon.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I agree it's overdone and has jumped the shark.
I believe it started when the Army adopted the "Army Strong" slogan back in 2006.

I put it in the same vain as "stand up to cancer" and such drivel, as if it's some schoolyard bully trying to take your lunch money. I think it boils down to most people are just soft and can't handle the tough realities of the world without a cover of some sort.

As a cancer survivor, I can tell you that one really gets on my nerves. Shit like that is all about making people feel like they’re doing something by coming up with a catchy slogan or phrase.

Glad to see others share my sentiment of this annoying overused expression. I want to puke when I hear South Mississippi strong. Once was more than enough. Media driven drivel.

I saw a car the other day with Sonoma Strong and California Strong stickers on it.

Amen! I'm getting pretty sick and tired of all the whining about what is essentially a vacation for many people (School kids being a significant portion of that demographic). Got sick, lost your job, or lost a family member to the wu-flu? You have a legitimate complaint and my sympathy. Kids who basically got a 3 month vacation from school and the freedom to sit around at home all day? Not so much.

"Local indoctrination center high school has plastered "Sumner Strong" posters all over the place...." Did they spell it 'Sumner' or did auto-carrot in your OP? If the former, then someone needs everyday of school! I'm so

"Sumner" is correct, school is named after a Dr. Charles Sumner. Local celeb of some sort.

Yeah. I liked the slogan I grew up with;
"Same old shit again, but we'll manage to figure out how to get through this as we always do."
It was more "Burma Shave", than Hallmark. But it didn't make yer ears bleed when you heard it again and again.
