As long as law enforcement ignores left lane pokers holding up traffic they will continue. Why in the hell police aren't pulling these people, along with cell phone chatters, over is beyond me. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Social media, and not enough $ to hire enough officers. Just guessing here. The cell phone shit is cray cray. Around here anyways. The majority of drivers are playing with my precious when they drive. They have to hold it, finger fuck it, or both. They are all addicts and I do mean addicts, not being funny. Light turns green and they sit there, idling. They drive under the speed limit and weave in and out of their lane. I think it should be the same penalty as DUI/DWI. Instant arrest. It’s more dangerous than drunk driving. They have done the tests many times. A damn drunk will at least keep their eyes on the road. Yet drinking and driving is universally ban hammered in society, rightfully so. But this other thing is worse and they rarely even ticket for it. It’s absolute hypocrisy. Locking these mother fuckers up is the only way it would change things. It needs to be done too. If need be, Federal law, as it’s that out of hand. Until then it won’t change and it will just get worse. That’s how addiction works. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

These right-lane passers usually come up behind me in the left lane (as I'm passing the slower traffic), and as soon as a gap opens between myself and the passee, these people will shoot that gap aggressively, and fly past. Wannabe Nascar drivers apparently. JMHO.

Author: Nigell Moses / WWL Louisiana Published: 9:59 PM CDT June 13, 2025 Updated: 9:59 PM CDT June 13, 2025 NEW ORLEANS — A new Louisiana law will increase penalties for drivers who cruise in the left lane below the speed limit — even by just 1mph. Previously, the law only applied to drivers going 10mph under the posted speed limit. Now, under the new rule, anyone driving slower than the speed limit must stay out of the left lane unless passing. The change comes after complaints from law enforcement and lawmakers, including Sen. Jay Luneau, who said left-lane cruising leads to road rage, unsafe lane changes, and more crashes — all of which can raise insurance rates for everyone, officials said. The cost of a ticket goes from $100 to $150 with higher fines on the second and third offense. Fines have also increased: 1st offense: $150 2nd offense: $250 3rd offense: $350 + possible jail time up to 30 days for multiple offenses Driving instructors said many people don’t even know the law exists. Officials hope the change will be easier for police to enforce and get more drivers to follow the rules. Louisiana bill targets slow left-lane drivers with higher fines and jail time.

I wish that police would ticket this traffic offense like they do speeding. To me, it is worse than most speeding offenses. It will create traffic jams at highway speeds and generate some serious road rage. I cannot imagine how many deadly accidents it has created. Aside from texting or other distracted driving, I think it is the most dangerous "routine" traffic offense I see on the interstate. The only things worse in my mind are speeds that are in excess of 15-20 mph above the interstate speed limit, or weaving in and out of traffic, but the latter is usually caused by the passing lane tourists. .

Isn't that the worst? They tie up the lane going slow, you are forced to pass them on the right, then they speed up and tailgate you as if you just insulted their mother. If I were king, I pass a law that required a higher-level of driver's license to use the interstate. If the interstate-licensed driver racks up so many stupid points driving on the interstate, they lose their privilege. .

I experienced that last week. Followed a flatbed semi for a good long way, then finally made the move to pass on the right as it was clear he was going to camp out in the left for the afternoon. As soon as I got about half the length of his trailer, he decided to [not signal and] start moving right. I gave the brakes a hell of a workout, trying not to get wedged between the trailer and a concrete barrier. When I regained my politeness I passed him on the left… dude was feeding a Slim Jim into his face as if he were sitting on his couch watching rasslin’. Despite my lights and horn, I don’t think the dude had any idea he had nearly crushed me.
In my kingdom, drivers re-take the driving portion of the test every five years. I’m undecided on the frequency of taking the written test. God bless America.
