I went to a local IRS office as I usually do this time of year to pick up tax forms. Greeted by an armed rent-a-cop. Excuse me sir but you need to remove your jacket, belt, watch and empty your pockets he says. But I'm here to pick up forms which are directly behind you on the rack I say. I don't need to speak to an agent. Didn't matter. I was wanded up to my crotch and frisked around my boot tops to my arm pits. Only had half the forms I needed to boot.

Don't libraries have IRS forms, too? (Post offices, as well, but I know how people feel about the USPS...)

This is why I always print my own forms from their website.

The IRS cries about their budget, but they have the funds to hire a person to frisk their "customers."

The 1099s and 1096s I use are printed in red, I assume to facilitate scanning, and the downloadable forms can't be used. I just get the forms from my tax-preparer. I don't even know where the nearest IRS office is, and I'm in no hurry to find out.

Use the IRS website.

You can request any form, as well as any instructions. They will be mailed to you, no charge.

And you would simply comply with a TSA level search by a rent-a-cop in order to access forms that you are entitled to have...for free? Somehow I doubt that, but if you did then good for you.

And, yes. I'd have said exactly that, then walked over to the post office or library and gotten them without the hassle, or downloaded them, or used software so as to avoid the whole thing.

Am I some bad-ass? Nope. But I'll darned sure call a spade a spade.

Really wanting to follow Gustofer in line at MIA coming back from a trip to the Dominican, as he declares that he is a US Citizen and allowed to enter.

Wont be the first time I have seen an AR pulled on someone at that airport. Last time a lady tried to run through the metal detector circa 1995, she ate tile pretty fast.

I guess I can understand that because the IRS pisses off a lot of people but the same thing happened to me at the social security office!
And the court house.

my wife does our taxes. Has for many years.

Today she went to get specific info on how to handle some financial transactions from a small company we had invested in. It went out of business years ago. She simply wanted to know if we could claim that lost money on our taxes, if so, how.

Went to 3 places listed as open for service in the innerweb. Found one of them open, and they didn't have a freaking clue!

I went to DMV last month to renew my Drivers License, and yea they had an armed elderly gentleman in a uniform. Not sure I would call the guy I saw a guard as he seemed to be about 75 - 80 carrying a Glock in a retention holster worn cowboy style. I'm not sure he could get the gun out of the holster if he tried.
