Ever since I can remember Heinz Ketchup has been a mainstay, my go to brand when shopping. But lately it’s been harder and harder to purchase it knowing that John Kerry profits from it albeit a minuscule fraction due to his marrying into the Heinz family. I’ve disliked him since “Winter Soldier” in Detroit during early 1971. Oh, I supported his right to protest the war but not in a U.S.Military uniform even though it was not a dress u inform it was still the uniform of the armed forces. Kind of sensitive about that, a couple of months before that protest I lost a friend in Vietnam, at that point it got personal. It wasn’t right then but like Jane Fonda he bets on people forgetting his actions as time passes. Not all of us forgot. Then there is his hypocrisy involving climate change and how we all have to sacrifice. Well except him, he is the all knowing one. And I loved the taste and texture of Simply Heinz, no HFCS only regular sugar in it. Finally found a house brand I can live with. Tried Hunt’s, several private label brands to no avail. Finally without not much hope I tried Meijer’s house brand without HFCS, so far a winner. On my second bottle now. So, take that John Kerry! My small “screw you” gesture to you. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. Hunt's has more than one variety of ketchup. The "100% Natural" type does not have HFCS.
For those of you who live in an area served by Publix groceries, the regular Publix brand does have HFCS, but their Greenwise label ketchup does not. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

That’s the one I tried but couldn’t learn to love it. I try to stay away from HFCS products. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. The Michigan Madman)

Hunt's for all things tomato...except ketchup. Heinz makes the best, hands down. Although, I made up a batch of homemade yesterday that turned out pretty dang good. I may stick with it. And yeah, John Kerry is a POS. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.

Yeah, that was the problem. I remember back into the 50’s Heinz was the only ketchup we used. And also the best. I still remember the Del Monte brand but Heinz was the predominant brand in restaurants around here too. I’ve wrestled with this for some time, I know it sounds stupid but another part of my childhood is slipping away. Silly things like sugar cubes in sugar bowls. But I just can’t in clear conscience give even a small part of my money to someone that wants to destroy our lives like him at the expense of allowing China to go on screwing the environment because they are a developing country. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. I was raised on Heinz. Like the OP switched to Simply Heinz to get rid of HCFS. At one point, French's (yes, the mustard people) came out with an amazing ketchup without HCFS that I preferred to Heinz. Unfortunately, HEB (Texas grocer) quit carrying it. Fortunately, HEB came out with their own brand of organic ketchup and it's delicious. No HCFS and no money going to Heinz. Just left the grocery store. I almost bought a pack,of Oscar Mayer Turkey Bologna. I’m on a restricted fat diet for the last thirty three years but still ended up having a X3 bypass in ‘98 and it’s the only bologna I can find that’s a low fat selection. And guess who owns Oscar Mayer? Kraft-Heinz. So, back to Dietz and Watson sliced Turkey…..so much for variety. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. I googled “HCFS acronym”. Lots of hits but didn’t see anything food-related. What’s its meaning in this context? Serious about crackers

A transpositional error, perhaps? HFCS is usually High Fructose Corn Syrup.

We do HEB brand stuff for a lot of our groceries. Had in-laws in from CA, they were shocked at the quality of the 'store brands' from HEB, compared to what they can get in their small town [Albertsons, WalMart] The Enemy's gate is down.

I see Amazon offers French’s ketchup. I’m going to order one and try it out. I have to order my HP Steak Sauce from Amazon as the only place around here that carried it stopped doing that around the ‘bola shutdown and has not resumed it. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. Lately, I have been enjoying "Whataburger" brand ketchup, especially the spicy version. Just a little heat but a nice change.

Not around here, predominant brands are Hunts and Heinz with a few “designer” ones here and there. I used to love the Tony Packo’s Sweet Hot ketchup but nobody around here carries it any longer. Heinz must be paying some pretty heavy cash to dominate this market area? -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. Hunt's 100% Natural works well enough for us. Never have tried the French's. Certifiable member of the gun toting, septuagenarian, bucket list workin', crazed retiree, bald is beautiful club! USN (RET), COTEP #192

I’m so sorry you are going through that. But fat is probably not your problem as evidenced by the bypass. Cut the carbs. No sugar. No grain and no seed oils. These go to eleven.

Make your own ketchup at home.
